Facing of the socle: details of work

Under the concept of socle is usually meant the lower belt of the facade, designed to protect it from contamination and damage. It should be made of durable materials, not only decorating the facade, but also capable of serving as a reliable barrier to moisture. Usually the socle reaches the floor level of the first floors. Its height should not be below 20 centimeters, so that it performs its functions correctly. The lining of the socle can be produced in one of a variety of ways. You can consider some of them.

First you need to do the preparatory work. The foundation from the foundation to the top level should be smooth and strong, do not be contaminated. It is necessary to eliminate irregularities, the size of which exceeds 5 millimeters. Before the lining of the plinth is made, it is necessary to walk along the surface with a priming composition. This will reduce the water absorption of the substrate.

Facing the plinth with a stone tile

This type of finish looks impressive, but it's very expensive. Most often it is made of limestone or sandstone, however, one can also find variants of granite and marble. The size of the tiles can be arbitrary, like their texture. Installation is quite simple. The tile is glued by means of a special adhesive solution for the stone. The use of a different kind of glue sometimes leads to the appearance of cracks and flaking of stone tiles. The lining of the socle must be protected by the eaves (if the first protrudes beyond the wall). Not everything falls off after frosts.

Naturally, you can use other materials. The stone for the lining of the plinth looks impressive enough. Outwardly such a solution resembles a structure made of natural stone, although works are carried out using concrete. Artificial stone has excellent performance characteristics (due to the fact that it includes various mixtures and fillers). Dyes added to the mass, allow you to get worthy variations of colors and shades, which opens a lot of opportunities for design. The lining of the socle with artificial stone is made in full accordance with the recommendations specified by the manufacturer. The material is adhered to an elastic or usual glue solution. The joints must be filled with a special mixture. After the preparation of the socle, it will be possible to protect it by means of special hydrophobizing agents that can prolong its life. The surface of such a plan looks very good for a very long time, while the cost of work is much lower than when using natural stone.

Another attractive option is the lining of the basement with ceramic granite. This material is very popular, which is easy enough to explain. Among the positive properties of porcelain stoneware are:

- Attractive appearance, provided by a variety of shade tile options;

- heat resistance;

- resistance to all kinds of external influences;

- high strength.

It is worth saying that the lining of the socle is an important procedure that allows to protect the structure from negative environmental factors.
