Overview of the Ford GT car line

The Ford Gt line-up was launched on the conveyor belt back in the 60s of the last century, when the company decided to get a high-tech series of racing cars. She did it quite well, after several years the cars of this model took more than one prize in famous and prestigious racing competitions.

First GT cars were equipped with 4.7-liter engines (powerful enough at that time), and in 1966 (after 2 years after the launch of the series) a seven-liter "beast" was already put into the car. The firstborn was awarded the name of Ford GT 40, the figure of which indicated the height of the car - 40 inches or 1.2 meters. Soon, the release of several modified (as a rule, the engine power was changed ), but all the same according to the concept of cars. During these years, Ford Jiti assembled a huge army of motorists and sold an impressive run. But in the field of success, the company failed. It was connected with the preparation for the release of the model Ford GT 70, which because of the company's internal conflicts and could not seem to the mass audience.

In 1994, Ford celebrated the 30th anniversary of the release of the GT 40. It was then decided to develop a completely new GT 90, which was released in a year. The characteristics of the car are now considered impressive. The new Jitie had a 6-liter 720-horsepower engine, which "took a hundred" for scanty 3.1 seconds. The maximum speed was 378 km / h. However, there was one minus, which, unfortunately, overlapped all the advantages of the car: the GT 90 never went on sale, remaining a prototype.

In 2002, when popularity had already begun to subside, the automaker introduced a new model at the Detroit Motor Show that was similar to the legendary GT 40. Although externally it was almost identical to the original (only slightly higher and wider), the optional set and engine power were modified. It is this model, which was called GT 43, became the most popular in this series. Production and sales were completed in 2007.

In parallel with the previous series of cars, Ford also began the production of more technologically advanced Mustang vehicles , which acquired the name Shelby GT. However, this model was not sold for long - from 1964 to 1970, after which the production was frozen. And with new strength, the Ford team is releasing a new generation of Shelby Mustang in 2006. Now the car is presented in 2 models: Ford GT 500 and 350. The latest version was the Shelby GT 500 2013, which we will now tell in more detail.

This time the company managed to produce a truly impressive car. Under the hood of this 4-wheeled steel horse, there is a 5.8-liter 662-hp motor capable of speeding up to 325 km / h. The engine itself is rightfully recognized as the most powerful of the series ever produced in North America. In comparison with its predecessor, the transmission was considerably strengthened, which is represented by a six-speed manual gearbox. Fuel consumption for a car of this class is very happy: 15 liters per 100 km for city trips and 9 l / 100 km outside the village. The salon equipment, as before, remains on top, which emphasizes the American chic and wastefulness. After the exit the car became terribly popular among motorists, which allowed to sell it in a considerable number of copies.
