Antibiotic "Ceforal Solutab"

The drug "Ceforal Solutab" is a dispersible tablet that has a pale orange color and a pleasant strawberry odor. The main active substance in these tablets is cefixime trihydrate, and the auxiliary substances are low-substituted giprolase, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, silicon dioxide colloid, povidone, calcium saccharate trisecihydrate, flavor and color.

"Ceforol Solutab" is a semisynthetic antibiotic of the third generation of cephalosporins and is intended for oral administration, the drug has a bactericidal effect.

After the drug is ingested, its bioavailability is about 50% and it does not depend on whether the food was taken or not, the maximum concentration is reached approximately four hours after ingestion. Its greatest concentration is noted in bile and urine.

It is excreted from the body of "Ceforal Solutab" in unchanged form mainly with urine and only a small part of it - together with bile.

If a person has renal failure, then an increase in the half-life of this drug, as well as an elevated plasma content, is significantly slowed by its elimination by the kidneys. In people with cirrhosis, the half-life increases almost twice.

Indications for use

"Ceforol Solutab" is prescribed in the following cases:

- with streptococcal tonsillitis and pharyngitis;

- for the treatment of sinusitis, acute and chronic bronchitis (with exacerbations), acute otitis media;

- It is also recommended to take this medication with uncomplicated gonorrhea and uncomplicated urinary tract infections;

- in the presence of shigellosis.

Dosage of the preparation "Ceforal Solutab"

For people weighing more than 50 kg, 400 mg of the drug are sufficient per day, which can be taken at one time, or divided into two doses.

If the weight of the child is more than 25 kg, but less than 50 kg, then the daily dose is 200 mg, which is taken at a time. Tablets can be swallowed whole, and pre-diluted in a small amount of water, and then drink any liquid. From eating, the use of this drug does not depend.

Duration of treatment is determined individually, but after the disappearance of visible symptoms of the disease, it is recommended to take this remedy for another 2-3 days. Usually the course of treatment of respiratory tract infections is from one to two weeks. If treatment of tonsillopharyngitis is carried out, the course of treatment should be no less than 10 days. In the treatment of uncomplicated gonorrhea take 400 mg once a day.

"Ceforol Solutab" with cystitis is effective, since the tablets are excreted in the urine, and thus the mucous membrane of the bladder is treated. With infections of the lower parts of the urinary tract, treatment is sufficient for 7 days, and for the upper - up to 14 days. In men, the duration of these diseases also ranges from 1 to 2 weeks.

Side effects

In very rare cases, there may be agranulocytosis, clotting disorders, transient leukopenia, eosinophilia or thrombocytopenia, pancytopenia.

Also, sometimes there may be: headaches, dysphoria, abdominal pain, very rarely - cholestatic jaundice and hepatitis, hematuria, a slight increase in the level of creatinine in the blood.

It is counter-indicative to apply "Ceforal Solutab" in the presence of intolerance to cephalosporins and cefixime. Also it is impossible to take it to children, whose weight is less than 25 kilograms.

If there are allergic reactions caused by taking this remedy, it must be stopped.

"Ceforol Solutab" in pregnancy should be taken with caution and only when the benefits to the mother's health are greater than the potential risk for the child.
