Environmental safety: there is still time to save yourself

Each historical epoch has its name. There is the Copper Age, the Stone Age, is the Renaissance and the Middle Ages. The twentieth century will go down in the history of Russia as the epoch of Warning.

Maximizing economic and economic activity, we placed ourselves at the edge of ecological catastrophe. One more step - and humanity can disappear forever.

For the first time, the phrase "environmental safety" was sounded in the 1960s, when Germany and the United States thought about how many more years humanity will be able to survive, if not stop polluting the globe?

Even then the answer was depressing: world scientists called the figure 30 years. Therefore, when discussing the problem of environmental protection, it was assumed that in all subsequent years, the states would either create safe production conditions, or reconcile with global environmental instability. Because any further contamination would dramatically worsen the quality of people's lives, and depleted or polluted natural resources threaten the very existence of life.

It was at this time that the concept of "environmental safety" was introduced, which meant the protection of a person and his environment from any negative natural or anthropogenic influences. Even today, one of the urgent tasks of ensuring Russia's security on a national scale is a radical change in the environmental situation in a positive way.

Of course, not all the time that has passed since the 1960s has been wasted. Environmental safety of Russia today has a good scientific foundation, we have regulatory government organizations, voluntary funds and associations for environmental protection, adopted important and necessary laws. However, these measures are not enough to save nature and the planet as a whole.

All the results of ebullient environmental activities, all the provision of environmental safety is most often reduced to eliminating the consequences, and not to eliminating the causes. First, we are witnessing an environmental violation, for example, the construction of an illegal enterprise, the formation of a landfill, an oil pipeline accident, or the like. After that, we do our best to eliminate the consequences of the violation: reduce the leakage, improve the safety of the nuclear power plant, collect oil from the surface of the ocean. Time after time, we repeat these actions, instead of starting to implement the long-established theories of organizing waste-free landfills, to seek and apply alternative sources of energy.

The conclusion is simple and understandable: in order to ensure environmental security for offspring, solutions that contradict the natural laws of nature are not suitable. The most dug and drowned by hundreds of meters of concrete nuclear dump will make itself felt terrible deadly consequences. Therefore, there is only one way out: to balance the laws and plans for the country's economic development and its environmental activities. Because the economic benefits, even high, but momentary, most often cause great harm to nature.

Today there is evidence that due to the perfection of our legislation, the liberalization of production relations with the West, the poor work of the controlling bodies, Russia's environmental security is under threat. The introduction of environmentally harmful production in Russia, the supply and use of low-quality or long-established technologies, and the low level of ecological culture can dramatically shorten the lives of not only each person, but also of mankind as a whole.

To prevent this from happening, Russia, together with other countries, develops a number of documents aimed at suppressing any activities harmful to the environment, and looks for alternative approaches to solving many problems. Ecological security today worries the entire population of the Earth.
