Zvenigorodskaya metro station in St. Petersburg

The Petersburg Metro is one of the oldest in Russia. Its structure covers even the remote corners of the city, and soon this process will affect the suburbs - the construction of branches towards Pushkin and the railway stations Borovaya and Shushary is in full swing. True, these nearby suburbs are not already considered such - they entered the boundaries of the modern metropolis, but is it something that changes for the citizens of St. Petersburg? The main thing is a trend.

Historical places

The station "Zvenigorodskaya" (St. Petersburg, metro) is located in Semenovsky district of St. Petersburg. Earlier, in the XIX century, here lay the parade and barracks of Semenovsky, Egersky and Moscow regiments. In the middle of the century public plagues were conducted on the parade ground, for example, Butashevich-Petrashevites or Narodnaya Volya. The place of public executions was soon converted to a temporary tent market, and even later - to the racetrack. It was at this racetrack that a historic football match took place at the end of the century.

It was from here that the history of the metropolitan railway began: first the horse - to Tsarskoye Selo, and then the steam locomotive - to Vitebsk. In the second half of the XIX century Vitebsk railway station was erected.

The place between the racecourse and the station at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th centuries was used for fairs, booths, carousel rides, etc. And then in the empty place of the parade the barracks were erected for the Railway Battalion and Automobile Company, the Military Automobile School and the printing house.

During the siege of Leningrad, the hippodrome was destroyed, and in the post-war period the building of the Theater of Young Spectators named after Alexander Bryantsev and the metro station "Pushkinskaya" were built in free territories.

History of construction

In 53 years after the opening of Pushkinskaya on the other side of the theater, the Zvenigorodskaya station of the St. Petersburg underground was opened. It was a joyful event for the citizens of St. Petersburg on December 20, 2008. The metro station "Zvenigorodskaya" is one of the major interchange stations of the underground. From it you can get to the red Kirov-Vyborg branch, going to "Pushkinskaya". "Zvenigorodskaya" is located on the purple Frunzensko-Primorskaya line and is located between the stations "Sadovaya" and "Obvodniy Canal".

The history of the construction of the metro station "Zvenigorodskaya" goes back to the 1980s, but the construction started then was frozen. The mayor of the city, Valentina Ivanovna Matvienko, included the project in her election campaign and fulfilled the promise given to the citizens.

"Zvenigorodskaya" is a deep-seated station (its depth is about 57 m) and is connected with an external lobby with an inclined course with an escalator. The station passes 650 thousand passengers a month.

The project has undergone changes since the 1980s: the ground features were taken into account and a supporting wall was erected. The vaults of the inner lobby are resting on columns. Therefore, the station is a type of column-wall. The distance between the axes of the columns is 3.8 m in the longitudinal direction and 8 m in the transverse direction.

In addition, the option of an external exit of the metro station "Zvenigorodskaya" was re-planned: originally they planned to build a two-story building in the style of the barracks of the Semyonovsky regiment, which used to be in this place, but eventually made it inside a modern building where the shopping center is located on the second floor.

Features of decorative decoration

The decor of the station is decided in white-green with gold tones. As a facing material for walls and columns, granite "Kashina Gora" and marble "Koelga" and "Indiana Green" from India were used. The set floor is also made of red Indian granite "Imperial Red" as a fringing and dark green Indian granite "Rakhi Green" with colored inserts. Above the apertures between the columns are semicircular windows with milky glass and gilded grilles.

The history of Russia in the mosaics "Zvenigorodskaya": the lower vestibule

The mosaic decoration of the metro station "Zvenigorodskaya" is also connected with the history of the Semenov regiment. The place of the Semenovsky regiment in Russian history is very important. It was with him and another - the Preobrazhensky regiment, Peter I began the formation of the Russian army. In 1683, according to his decree, recruits were recruited from the villages of Semenovskoye and Preobrazhenskoe, on the basis of which amusing shelves were created for the amusements of Peter Alekseevich. They later became the basis of the foot troops of the Petrovskaya army, glorifying the Russian state with their courage and courage.

On the end wall of the interior vestibule is a mosaic panel made of smalt, depicting Semenovtsi in the form of an imperial era: blue (cornflower) caftan of European cut with cuts on the sides and behind (side cuts complemented by folds and rear with decorative hinges) with wide red cuffs on sleeves and Red lining, red camisole with metal buttons, as well as at the caftan, and knee-high drawers with copper buttons on the sides, blue knee-high stockings, a black tricorn of woolen fabric and black shoes. The whole suit is trimmed with a gold braid and a white harness cord. At the head of the soldiers is their commander, dressed in a red caftan. Over the regiment flags and banners flap in the sky. Some depict the saints, on the right - the Archangel Michael, the great commander, and on the central in the blue circle the Virgin with the son Jesus.

The history of Russia - in mosaics "Zvenigorodskaya": the upper vestibule

The theme of the main panel, located in the upper vestibule, the largest in the St. Petersburg metro, was the Poltava battle. It was this event, as a result of which the Russian army was born, according to its creators Alexander Kirovich and Yegor Alexandrovich Bystrov, became perhaps the most important Russian state in the history of the state.

It was the victory at Poltava that turned the attitude of Europe towards our country. At the head of the Russian troops - Peter I and the first field-marshal of Russia Boris Petrovich Sheremetyev. The colors for the mosaic were chosen not casually: it was ocher, red, yellow, brown and blue used in the iconography.

The mosaic is assembled from small fragments, welded on a metal frame.
