Egypt: weather by months. Hurghada: weather by months, water temperature

The country of northeastern Africa, which has an amazing and original ancient history, imprinted in monumental structures ... The state that uses its amazing marine recreational resource in the tourism industry ... Of course, this is about such an amazing corner of the world as Egypt.

The weather by the months in the territory of its resorts is extremely variable. For different seasons and different resorts of the Pharaonic countries, rest has its own characteristics.

Strictly speaking, to familiarize the readers with this specificity, it became necessary to write this article.

Factors forming the climate of Egypt

We begin our exposition with a condensed description of the climatic complex of this state. It has a pronounced desert-tropical character. As is known, Egypt is the four main climatic zones. The weather by the months depends on their seasonal interaction. Let's list them, also indicating the geographical location:

  • West of the Nile River - the Libyan Desert ;
  • East of the same river - Arabian desert ;
  • The Nile Valley, where practically the entire population of Egypt resides;
  • Sinai peninsula (geographically related to the Asian continent).

The fifth climatic zone is a narrow strip of the Mediterranean coast with a characteristic subtropical warm and humid climate. However, immediately behind it, air masses from the Mediterranean are isolated from the rest of the territory of the Pharaonic Land by an array of rocky mountains. Therefore, the influence of deserts affects the climate of all of Egypt. The very same country is sometimes figuratively called an oasis stretched along the Nile channel between two deserts.

Briefly about the weather in Egypt

Egypt is unique. The weather by month, in general, clearly distinguishes two periods:

- cool (starting from December, ending with March);

- Hot (beginning in June, ending in September).

Although guidebooks for the Pharaohs state that the holiday season does not stop here throughout the year, however, gourmets still prefer to go there in the autumn off-season: in October - November. It is believed that this period is optimal for both excursions and recreation on the Red Sea coast.

However, the above-mentioned statement of guidebooks, honestly, should be interpreted in such a way that the opportunities for recreation in Egypt do exist all the year round. On the one hand, the Red Sea is available for swimming always (in the cold period it is not cooler than 20 degrees Celsius, while in the hot one it warms up to 28 degrees Celsius).

However, there are seasonal nuances that limit a certain type of rest for a while. In this formulation it is difficult to disagree with him. After all, the average weather in Egypt by months is characterized not only by the temperature of the air at various resorts, but also by seasonal winds, by the intensity of solar radiation.

The main climatic resorts of Egypt

Consider the annual temperature regime of this country, determining the average air and water temperatures in cities representing the main resorts of the Pharaonic Countries:

  • Alexandria (resorts of the Mediterranean coast);
  • Luxor (historical and archaeological excursions);
  • Hurghada (resorts of the western coast of the Red Sea);
  • Sharm el-Sheikh (northern resorts, Sinai peninsula);
  • Cairo (excursions to the Great Pyramids and the Sphinx, as well as city tours).

Thus, the weather and water in Egypt by months and in the context of the main resorts and excursion centers are presented below in the form of bar graphs convenient for perception:

For many residents of post-Soviet countries, Egypt has become a favorite health resort. Quality vacation is facilitated by an optimally selected season, resort, hotel. In making this choice, one of its criteria is the weather in Egypt for a year by months. Orient in it - it is important for the tourist.

January and February

Let's say the vacation fell on January. There is a category of tourists who do not tolerate the heat. This is their time! At this time the water of the Mediterranean Sea for swimming does not fit: about 16 degrees C. But in the Red Sea it is warmer - an average of 21 degrees C. For the Egyptians it's cool, but not for the inhabitants of Russia. For them, the weather in Egypt in winter (according to the months of this time of the year there is no special difference) resembles a velvet season in Sochi. Thus, it is reasonable for a tourist to choose a tour to the hotel resorts of the Red Sea. Which one should I choose? We recommend Sharm el-Sheikh. Air here in January rises in the day to 25 degrees C. The fact is that, unlike Hurghada, the northern Egyptian resort of Sheikh Bay (so translated the name of the resort) is reliably protected by mountains from the winds.

However, for surfers who wind is good, you can advise rest in Hurghada. In addition, in January, tourists are able to plan for themselves excursions around the country, incl. In Cairo and Luxor.

The February weather in the Land of the Pharaohs is similar to the January one. Therefore, all our previous recommendations remain in force.

February is considered the coolest month in Egypt. And the truth, the average temperature of air and water is reduced by 1 - 2 degrees C.

March and April

March is changeable and has its own characteristics. And this is a vivid example, showing what the weather in Egypt by months is, by its nature, unexpected. According to the logic of things (see diagrams of average monthly temperatures) it becomes warmer, but insignificantly.

However, this season: from March to the third decade of April - is considered the most unfavorable for excursions to Cairo and Luxor. The reason is seasonal hot and dry, blowing 50 days, desert wind hamsin. The heat brought by it sometimes exceeds 40 degrees C. The sand penetrates everywhere, even (in an incomprehensible way) into isolated modern windows and doors of the room. Sand storms are frequent, and gusts of wind reach 100 m / s. Nesladko will have on the road to tourists who set out on a long excursion in such weather ...

However, fortunately, dust storms do not reach the resorts. And in March, more tourists buying a holiday tour in four-five-star hotels, already choose not only Sharm el-Sheikh, but also Hurghada (Egypt).

Hurghada (the weather by months, the temperature of the water in the diagrams shown by us show this) is already warmed by the spring sun and also begins to attract tourists. This resort is traditionally preferred by tourists from the former CIS countries.

April, thanks to the intensified Egyptian sun, which warms the air up to 30 degrees C in the daytime, attracts tourists - lovers of bathing - to the Mediterranean resorts. The Egyptians prefer to rest here. The prices here are lower than at the resorts of the Red Sea. However, there is a specificity. The Egyptians of religion are convinced Muslims, therefore, it is recommended that ladies on a Mediterranean resort resort should use a closed swimsuit.

In this case, tourists who arrived in March and April in Egypt, we recall that it is better not even to plan trips away from the resorts until the third decade of April because of the hard dusty desert wind of hamsin.

In April there is a significant bonus: the harvest of fruits ripens (apples, orange, dates, guavas, watermelons, melons). Accordingly, the food of tourists is substantially enriched with vitamins.

May

In May, on the Mediterranean coast of Egypt, the high season. Fans of quasi-European recreation and food seek to Alexandria and El Arish because of a good traditional colonial service, as well as significantly lower prices than in European resorts.

The heat in May has not yet reached its highest marks on the Red Sea coast. Sharm el-Sheikh and Hurghada (referring to the western and northern resorts of Egypt in general) are chosen not only by amateurs of a purely hotel rest, but also by connoisseurs of excursions.

June - September

Time from June to September is characterized by a high level of solar radiation. The tropical climate is a desert type after all!

Summer clothes with short sleeves for prolonged rest are not relevant: you should cover your body to protect yourself from sunburn. For holidaymakers for the same reason, do not plan long excursions. After all, at an air temperature that has warmed to 50 degrees C, they are more than tiresome. But rest number one is diving, as well as snorkeling (swimming with a tube, mask and fins).

Professionals of this sport choose a place of rest hotels near the most interesting and life-rich reefs. This criterion for them - the most important thing, it is even more pedantic than the perfection of the resort infrastructure. Many of these divers are attracted by the developing young resort of Marsa-Alam.

Undoubtedly, the tourist infrastructure of the Pharaonic countries is developed and has its own bright brand. In the summer season, tourists are invited to absolutely all the resorts representing Egypt ...

"Hurghada, the weather by months" (we emphasize this) - that's what is most relevant at this time for tourists! After all, only here (in Sharm el-Sheikh this is not), tourists receive an additional natural bonus: a cool wind from the sea, partially compensating for the summer heat.

As you know, we strongly recommend that lovers of summer holidays are Hurghada. We also recommend summer tourists "water recreation style." If there is no possibility to join diving (thanks to several lessons and inexpensive rental of equipment), snorkeling is for you. You will not be disappointed! The Red Sea is unique with its richest coral underwater world. What kind of bright and outlandish fish you will not find here! The secret of such abundance is simple: in Egypt, industrial fishing has never been cultivated (and will not be cultivated!). Therefore, the natural complex of the Red Sea, as a unique environment untouched by human influence, is of constant interest to tourists.

The best holiday season

October and November (we have already mentioned this) are ideal for a holiday in Egypt: tourists are not hampered by characteristic natural restraints (winds and excess solar radiation). You can freely plan and beach holidays, and excursions. Finally, you can plan long trips, for example, to Luxor. It is here that the density of the location of the ancient relics is the largest in the Land of the Pharaohs. The holidaymakers have a rare opportunity - without being distracted by the heat or wind, make up your personal impression of ancient Egypt. The weather by months, finally (in October and November) does not limit the unaccustomed to the breath of the desert of Europeans in the movements.

"Russian season"

In the second half of November and especially in December (which the Egyptians call the "Russian season"), cool winds blow in Egypt. However, the average water temperature of the Red Sea - 21 degrees C - is quite suitable for swimming. A meeting in New Year's Egypt is invariably exotic and memorable.

The warmest resort at this time is protected from the winds by the mountains of Sinai Peninsula Sharm el-Sheikh. For comparison, if the night temperature at this time here is on average 17 degrees C, then in Hurghada, only 12 degrees Celsius.

Instead of concluding

Undoubtedly, rest in the Land of the Pharaohs, in spite of the advertised courage, has pronounced weather cycles, because the desert country is Egypt.

The weather by month here is different at different resorts in this country. Tourists are advisable to adjust their plans for recreation, given the scorching sun and seasonal desert winds (then hot, bearing sand, then cold).

Therefore, experienced tourists, planning their vacation, not only vary in their choice of hotels, guided by feedback. They (and this is reasonable!) First of all they choose for their holiday the optimal resort for the season. In addition, these holiday-makers plan their expenses in advance, because in some months it is not reasonable to spend money on expensive and distant excursions.

We hope that our article will help you organize your stay better.
