Spotted or Australian smoky cat: a description of the breed

In 1975, the breeders of Sydney decided to create a new breed of cats, which would be close to Burma. But she had to be different from her spotted color of "tiki". The work lasted for five years. As a result, in January 1980, the first kittens were born, which could be safely called descendants, who took the best from their ancestors. From Burmese - the main genetic material - they inherited a slender physique. From Abyssinian cats - ticking. A mongrel with a color of "tabby" gave a characteristic color and strong health. Since 1998, the breed has received the official name: Australian Smoky Cat (Australian Mist). At the moment she was recognized in the WCF, NZCF, CCCA and ACF.

Spotted smoky cat is a breed of short-haired, moderately oriental. Its representatives must necessarily have a ticked color. But the suit can be only seven colors: brown, blue, chocolate, caramel, gold, peach or lilac. The body of such a cat is muscular, of medium size. The feet are not too long and thin, with small round pads. The standard requires that the wool loosely adhere to the body. On an obtuse face with soft features, a slightly golden-yellow iris with slightly slanting eyes. Ears are medium, with rounded ends. Gives out a representative of the breed and a distinct light undercoat on the stomach.

A distinctive feature of the Australian smoky breed is its multidisciplinary color. It is he who makes the mysta recognizable. The main suit is usually lighter than the ticking pattern. The latter should be uniform. And on top of the back and sides there is a kind of invisible mantle - a smoky blanket, slightly opening the paws and belly. The figure of "tiki" can be either spotty or marble.

But it should be said that the full "opening" of the amazing coat color occurs only at the end of the second year of the life of the individual. Despite this circumstance, the Australian smoky breed is considered very expensive. This is not surprising, given the fact that it is still not widely distributed in the countries of the Old World and is mostly popular on the Green Continent. Females are valued higher than cavaliers.

The Australian smoky cat has a sociable personality. She loves all the domestic people alike, she does not want to be stricken by strangers, she loves playing with children. Mist is an inveterate homebody and can safely spend his life without walks. Closed space does not bother him at all. It's just as easy to carry loneliness in an apartment. But if the owners decided to play with him, he will be only happy. Representatives of the breed are very tolerant to other domestic pets, get on well with dogs and other cats.

In view of the fact that the breed is new and uncommon, it is difficult to talk about any hereditary diseases. So far, we can say that they are not identified. It remains only to hope that the native tabby, who took part in the formation of the Australian smoky breed, brought a powerful charge of vitality to its genotype. Care for these cats is not particularly difficult. A short fur should be combed with a special mitten.
