Especially rich in such beauties Antalya, it is here on vacation most often come our compatriots. And practically each of them allocates time for visiting the Dyudensky waterfall, the photo of which is included in all advertising booklets of the country. And the tourists themselves consider this incredible place to be the most beautiful in Antalya. Let's find out what the Dyudensky Falls is and why it is of such value to tourists and locals.

Duden River: the formation of a waterfall

Antalya belongs to a rare resort, where, in addition to the beautiful sea, there are also rivers with a cascade of waterfalls. This allows tourists to enjoy not only a lazy beach holiday, but also sightseeing. Antalya itself is located on a high cliff above the Mediterranean Sea itself, and on the other side it is surrounded by Mount Taurus. All kinds of the resort are very picturesque, and the Dyudensky waterfall can be called a Turkish pearl.

The cascade of waterfalls is formed by the river Dyuden, which originates from karstic mountain springs. The river begins thirty kilometers from the city, where several springs merge into one stream, called Kyrkgezler.

Surprisingly, the Duden River flows almost in the center of Antalya. Partly it passes under the ground, sometimes the underwater channel is stretched for thirteen kilometers. In the 60s of the last century, a hydroelectric power station was built in the resort area, and the river began to pass through specially constructed underground canals. If you look at the river at its source, it's hard to imagine that this lazy current can form a cascade of rapids and waterfalls, two of which are considered the most beautiful in the country. Literally a few tens of meters from the source, Duden accelerates and forms the first thresholds. In the northeast of the center of Antalya, the river turns into a roaring stream, and tourists can see the first of the famous waterfalls - the Upper Dyudensky Falls. From its visiting tourists never refuse, especially since this picturesque place is surrounded by a coniferous forest, in which a national park with all the infrastructure is built.

At the fifty-meter cliff, where the river flows into the Mediterranean, the Lower Dyudensky Falls are formed. It is considered one of the largest in Europe, and you can admire it both from land and water.

Upper Dyudensky Falls, Antalya: description

It's hard to say which of the nature's creations on the Dyuden River is the most beautiful, but tourists are always very enthusiastic about the Upper Dyudensky waterfall. To inspect it can be literally the whole day, after all the creation of Mother Nature is represented not by one water stream, but by a whole group of rapids, waterfalls and waterfalls. In the center of this beauty it is almost impossible to talk - everything is blocked by the noise of falling water. This incredible beauty can be seen from different angles, because a large number of bridges are laid across the river, and the most beautiful view opens from the observation deck, which is often filled with water spray so that tourists have to go barefoot on it.

If you are not afraid of caves and grottos, you can explore the surrounding beauty, descending into the natural rocky halls that abound in the Dyudensky Falls.

National Park of Dudens: characteristics

Local authorities have done everything to make it easy for tourists to come to the famous Dyudensky Falls (Turkey). A national park built along the river allows holidaymakers not only to see the natural landmark, but also to dine in the shade of forest alleys. In the park there are quite a lot of cafes and cozy gazebos. Families with children like to buy ice cream in special kiosks, where traders can arrange for kids a real show with balls of cold delicacy.

Keep in mind that the entrance to the national park is chargeable, but you can buy a ticket only for Turkish lira. Dollars and other currencies are not accepted at the checkout. By purchasing an entrance ticket, you can stay near the waterfall until the very closing of the park, no one limits your time in this beautiful nature reserve.

The river Dyuden is visible right from the entrance to the park, so, after literally several dozen meters along convenient asphalt paths, you will hear an increasing rumble, and in a couple of minutes you will see a spectacular view - the Upper Dyudensky Falls (Antalya). Photos of this creation of nature impress the imagination with the angles from which they are made by tourists. This is easy to achieve due to the large number of bridges and viewing platforms. They allow you to approach the sights very close and capture it on the camera. If you wish, you can rent a boat in the park and swim to the water stream, enjoying the sea of splashes and a magnificent rainbow. Almost everywhere in the park you can hear the noise of a waterfall, and light water dust settles on clothes and hair, giving coolness even on the hottest day.

Grottoes and cliffs of the national park

The main water stream, which is also called the waterfall of Alexander the Great, breaks down from the twenty-meter-high rock. But you can see it not only from the side of the forest, which he is surrounded. The fact is that the waterfall has one secret, allowing to penetrate into his heart: the rock behind the roaring stream has several caves and grottos. Practically each of them has a small viewing platform. On narrow spiral staircases the tourists descend into the cool rocky rooms and admire the incredible spectacle, which in all its glory opens before them. One interesting legend relates to the caves of the park. The fact is that the observation balcony has a very unusual stone covering. To many, it resembles a meteorite, for a stone seems to consist of thin needles. Employees of the park argue that if you tie a thread on one of these needles and make a wish, then it will come true. But there is one secret - making a wish, it is necessary to look at the cave roof, where a piece of sky is seen. And do not believe when they say that the waterfall does not fulfill the desire. It's just that not everyone can learn this particular secret.

After admiring the waterfall, you can stroll around the park. Here, too, quite a lot of interesting. For example, to the left of the riverbed an ancient plane tree grows, whose age, according to some sources, has already totaled seven hundred years. And fans of historical monuments will be interested in burials dating from the third century of our era. The ancient sarcophagi are decorated with beautiful carvings depicting lions.

Waterfall "Falling Watermelon"

The Lower Dyudensky falls into the Mediterranean Sea. The rock with which it breaks down, has a height of fifty meters. In Europe, you will no longer find such an incredible sight. By the way, the locals say that if you drink water from this waterfall, you can preserve beauty and health for a long time.

Often the Lower Waterfall is called the "Falling Watermelon". On this account, there are two stories that claim to be pure truth. According to one of the versions, one day the river got out of the coast so much that it flooded the melons with watermelons, which then broke from a huge height into the Mediterranean Sea. Another story says that on the river, locals quite often fused watermelons, but not always managed to catch them all before the waterfall. Therefore, many striped berries ripped from the rock to the delight of onlookers. Nobody already remembers which of the stories gave the name to this beautiful waterfall, but the name still survived.
