Dry felting under the power of everyone!

To diversify the gray routine, dilute the daily routine, you need to have a hobby. It should be an activity that you really like, which will help you relax in your spare time and spend time with benefit.

Recently, it has become very popular to dry felting out of wool or, as it is also called, felting . With this technique you can create souvenirs, decorations, soft toys. In this work there is nothing complicated, and therefore the dry felting for beginners to master is quite simple.

The process consists in entangling the fibers of the wool among themselves, which, compacted, turn into felt or felt. Tools for feltinga are special needles with barbs.

What is needed for dry felting?

In the shop for needlework, you can buy unkempt wool and needles of different thicknesses. In addition, you need to buy a foam sponge thicker. We take it so as not to accidentally prick the table or fingers with a needle. If your product should be voluminous, then it is better to replace a part of the wool with synthepone, because It is much cheaper. The very basis of the product can be made from sintepon, and the shell - from wool. Note that when the felting is about 3%, shrinkage of the wool occurs, so the starting material will be larger than the planned size of your product.

So, let's get to work. To do this, we take a sufficient amount of wool, form a rough outline of the future product (for example, if you have a bead, then roll a ball of wool), put it on a foam sponge and proceed to felting. This is done quite simply: in a wad of wool, poke the needle and turn it gently. The needle, clinging to the fibers of the wool with notches, confuses and compacts the wool.
Be careful, because the felting needles are quite sharp. Make punctures carefully so as not to get hurt. You do not need to hit with a swing - so you can break the needle. In no case should you keep the workpiece on weight. Start dry felting with large needles, and as the product becomes more compact, replace them with thinner ones. The needle must be kept strictly perpendicular to the plane of the product, otherwise it may become entangled in the wool and break.

If the product consists not of one but of several parts, then first pile each part separately, and then with a small piece of wool it will be possible to weld them to each other. If you make a children's toy, you can sew details for greater strength of the finished product, and hide the threads from above with hair.

It can happen that in the process of felting an unevenness is formed. This is easily fixable! Just need to top a little wool. This dry felting and good - if you make a mistake, do not need to rework the product again, everything is fixed fairly quickly and simply.

Dry felting is best to start with the simplest products, for example, with beads. When you master the technique well, you can move on to making more complex items.
Dry felting is convenient because it does not need a lot of space. Also it can be combined with another activity, for example, with communication with friends or watching movies. And this lesson allows you to realize almost any creative idea, you just need to acquire colored wool and allocate time. In addition, felting is a remarkable stress therapy. This process is very reassuring, and the joy of a product made by yourself, for a long time raises the mood.
