Droppers for drip irrigation with their own hands

Many gardeners are faced with the problem of organizing proper and regular watering of plants. To resolve this issue, droppers are used for drip irrigation. They can be made independently, installing inside greenhouses and greenhouses for plants that do not receive rainwater. This approach has many advantages, among them one can single out the possibility of damage to the root system of plants. Unlike the usual method of watering, drip does not imply an excess of moisture at the roots, which can contribute to souring.

Making a dropper in the home

When making a dropper for drip irrigation, you first need to install a container in order to supply the system with water. A submersible pump is installed in the tank, the capacity of which must be equivalent to the required flow through all the drippers of the system. It is important to expect that a day for a tomato bush will need 1.5 liters, while for a bush cucumber will need 2 liters. As soon as drippers for drip irrigation are ready, a polyethylene water pipe should be connected to the submersible pump. The diameter of this element can be from 16 to 32 millimeters. The head that will be created by the pump will allow the pipe to be taken out of the hole in the container, which can be placed on top. However, you can drill a tank in the wall, and after installing the seal, cutting the fitting through which the pipe will pass. When drippers for drip irrigation are made, one-piece fittings can be used if the element is in the shape of a T. Two fittings are required when using a L-shaped element. The trunk pipe should be carried out on 3 beds. Pipes at the ends of each bed should be drowned. At the next stage, you can arrange drip irrigation for each bush by means of a dropper.

Technology of work

Making drippers for drip irrigation with their own hands, in the main pipes you need to drill or punch holes to install an uncontrolled compensated dropper, whose working pressure is 4 atmospheres. You can make a hole for the adjustable drippers. The element is inserted into the hole of the main pipe, then it is necessary to bring the water to the roots with a polyethylene 6 mm tube. To fix the end of the element in the air, you need to mount the tip, which deepens into the soil near the bush.

Recommendations for work

Making drippers for drip irrigation with their own hands, you can install the next stage submersible pump for a timer, which will be responsible for switching off and turning on the electricity supply. This way you can adjust the function of the pump.

Manufacture of a dropper based on tape

A dropper for the drip irrigation system can be made on the basis of a tape. This will allow to arrange not fully automated irrigation. This solution is suitable if there is one culture or several in the greenhouse, each of which is characterized by the same requirements for irrigation. In this case, a drip strip is laid in which droppers are installed. The consumption of the latter should be 2 liters per hour. The distance between the elements should be from 30 to 50 cm. After you managed to stretch to the beds of the tape, you will receive a drip dosed watering of each bush. To the main pipe such tapes are fixed by means of starter connectors with valves. The pipe, as in the previous system, must be connected to a tank in which a submersible pump is provided equipped with a timer.

Alternative solution

When the drippers are adjustable for drip irrigation, the work can be carried out using a slightly different technology. To do this, you can use the tools and materials that each master will find in his own arsenal. This system is built on the principle of the traditional medical dropper. To provide irrigation of the garden, a rubber hose, several plugs, a water filtering device, a dropper, and an awl will be needed. The technology of work assumes connection of a hose to the water supply system. Next in the course is an awl, with the help of which it will be necessary to make holes in the hose for droppers. The hose is fixed, but the filtering device is pre-installed. For such a system, any filter perfectly suits any purpose. The end of the hose, as in the above described procedure, is muffled, which will eliminate the leakage of water. Now the system of droppers can be placed under the plants.

Homemade drippers for drip irrigation will work on the principle of adjustable water supply with a crane. If you use modern technology, then the process will be able to automate. In this case, the master will have to spend money on the purchase of sensors and motoblock. The first of these will help to control the soil moisture.

Calculation for arrangement of drip irrigation

If you make compensated drops for drip irrigation, which you can perform in one of the ways described above, you will need to make some calculations. Thus, each dropper during the operation consumes water in a volume of 1.5 liters per hour. This condition is true at a pressure that is equivalent to 0.8 atmospheres. If you buy a drop of tape in the store, then its length should be 30 cm. After making simple calculations, we can conclude that in 1 hour the system will use approximately 450 liters of water.

If an external compensated drip for drip irrigation is used, taking into account the maintenance of the aforementioned pressure and water flow, then after one hour of work it is possible to check the soil, which must be moistened to a depth in the range of 30 to 50 cm. This will suffice. It is not necessary to leave the device in working order for a longer time, as this can cause the death of plants from excess moisture.

Advice from a specialist

If you decided to equip in the garden system of drip irrigation, and work to be done with a plot of 150 square meters, then you should use a tape length of 120 meters. When you place the drippers 30 cm apart, you get a water flow of 3.8 liters per hour. The polyethylene water pipe must be positioned over the entire width of the irrigated area. The tank used for water must be made of plastic. Probably, there will be a need for a fitting that has an external thread. It must be installed in the water tank.

In order to attach the hose, prepare a valve with a ¾-inch thread. The transition from the internal thread to the external thread can be provided by the method of using a futer. To the hose you also need to buy a clutch. The master will need to attach the tape with rubberized fittings, which, subject to the above conditions, must be purchased in an amount of 8 pieces.

Conclusion

You can disable some irrigation lines by installing cranes that have rubber seals. If there is a desire to ensure the optimal operation of the manufactured droppers, the irrigation should be started about 3 times during the day. If it is a question of moderately hot weather, the moisture obtained will be enough for two or three days, which is relevant in the case of those summer residents who visit the garden at certain intervals.
