Actors played on the stage of the city philharmonic society, there were almost no scenery. The audience was in shock. City authorities did not pay much attention to the new theater. The life of the artists was getting harder in those difficult nineties. As a result, many began to leave. In Smolensk there were only five actors. They made an attempt to revive the theater-studio. The administration supported the artists morally, finances were not allocated, and the sponsors were not found. The Chamber Theater earned money by concert programs and tours.
