Doctor's verdict: PCOS is not a disease
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is one of the most common causes of female infertility, but doctors say that PCOS is not a disease. It can not be cured, but you can fight it. What is it then? PCOS is a condition in which the ovaries are surrounded by a dense shell of unripe oocytes. In this case, the ovary can not produce a dominant follicle, and therefore the woman constantly observes anovulatory cycles. And without ovulation, the onset of pregnancy is impossible, so in this case it is possible to talk about infertility.
Note that the ovaries are not working properly, the doctor can do it with ultrasound examination of the pelvic organs, however, only ultrasound can not be diagnosed with PCOS. The reasons for its occurrence are very deep, and therefore, before the verdict is issued, the doctor must prescribe several other types of examination that will confirm or refute the diagnosis.
With polycystic ovary:
- A woman in 90% of cases has overweight and androgenic type of figure - fat
Is deposited in the abdominal region and becomes similar to a kind of lifebuoy. - The woman is tormented by the greasiness of the skin, increased fatness of the head, accelerated growth of hair on the legs, pubic and armpits, sweating.
- One of the manifestations of PCOS is the irregularity of cycles or the absence of menstruation.
- There is no ovulation, no pregnancy.
However, the first thing that women are advised to plan on having children is to lose weight. It is important to normalize your diet, to minimize the use of sugar and carbohydrates, to lead an active lifestyle. All this will lead to weight loss, fat will go away, and with it a dense shell on the ovaries, which prevents the maturation of follicles and ovulation.
If conservative treatment does not lead through the allotted amount of time to the desired result, surgical intervention in the form of laparoscopy is prescribed. This operation is carried out by experienced surgeons who, through small holes in the abdomen, remove a dense skin with special small scissors or perform ovarian resection. As a rule, after laparoscopy, ovulation is restored, and the opportunity to become pregnant in the coming year is significantly increased.
