Disappearing professions: names

What are disappearing professions? What specialties have already gone forever into history, which are on the verge of extinction, and which are just emerging - this is the subject of this article.

Why do some professions disappear

In the 21st century, society is developing rapidly. At the same time, the appearance of settlements is changing, new cities are emerging and rapidly growing, a modern way of life is born. In huge production halls, human labor was replaced by automatic robots, some activities were transformed beyond recognition in comparison with the past centuries and even with the past decades, others are completely gone into oblivion. In this connection, the notion of "disappearing professions" appeared. We will describe them in detail below.

Together with the changing reality, many names of professions go down in history. Some simply transform their name into another designation, but there are also some that cease to exist. Their representatives are no longer found on the street, information can be found in historical archives, and see - except in a movie or a theatrical performance.

Professions that do not exist

Disappearing professions cease to be relevant. Because of the rapid development of science and the technological process, some specialties are losing relevance. Machines replace human hands and cope with almost all crafts much faster and more efficiently. Automation of many processes significantly reduces the cost of production and simultaneously increases the productivity of any process. The serious negative consequences of this are the loss of jobs, rising unemployment, as a result - the impoverishment of the population and the increase in social tensions in the world. Therefore, today the state makes a lot of efforts to ensure that everyone can master the actual for the current reality profession. It is important for everyone to learn and receive skills in the areas that are necessary for mankind.

Excursion to the past

Let's remember the old professions, which have lost their popularity and remained only in the pages of history. The names of some of them are known, others sound alien and completely unfamiliar.

Top professions that have ceased to exist:

  • Daguerreotypes . They created the first portrait photos. Then there were no cameras, and there were silver plates on which the very first pictures were created. They were replaced by photographers who clicked on the tape. But this is a completely different kind of work, therefore, we can safely say that the daguerreotypists have already become a part of history.
  • Chimney sweeps . They regularly went out in search of dirty chimneys. Without their efforts and work, no family could manage. The modern generation knows about this specialty only thanks to myths and fairy tales that have reached our days. Chimney sweeps were held in high esteem, as cleaning chimneys, pipes and fireplaces prevented fires.
  • Pied Piper . Probably many people have not heard such names of professions. But in fact it was a very important and dangerous post, these people could be compared to superheroes. They saved whole cities from the invasion of rodents, which were real carriers of dirt and disease. It was rats who brought the plague, which in the 16th century annihilated half of Europe. Today in many countries strictly follow the order, not allowing the spread of impurities and debris. If necessary, regularly clean the public areas, using strong poisons and other means of pest control. In the past, tens of thousands of rats were destroyed by hand.

Continuation of the list

  • The Kamnelomy . The hard labor, during which people died. Workers round the clock crushed rocks used for construction. Now the mining of stone is engaged in specialized machinery, controlled by man.
  • Lanterns . Every evening they went out to work with long sticks, lit street lights and maintained lighting in the city. Of course, it's hard to imagine that once there was no electricity.
  • Telephones . They were only recently, but today, in the "mobile phone world," such old professions ceased to exist. And sometime, to hear the desired subscriber, it was necessary to contact the telephone operator, who redirected the signal to the desired point.
  • Typists . Women in all printing institutions for hours typed texts, knocking, like a machine gun, on the keys of a typewriter. It is hard to imagine that today someone is working on this outdated apparatus.
  • Counters . In the workplace of these women there were only scores and paper with a pen for notes. In each company, an accountant was subordinated to a lady who could drop figures on bone accounts in seconds. After all, a few decades ago there was no calculator, and complex calculations were made exactly on the accounts. At work, only women were accepted, since they were more responsible for her and were very diligent.
  • The coachman was a driver, he was driving a horse-drawn carriage. But with the advent of the car people stopped moving around in wheelchairs and phaetons, which is why the need for this specialty has disappeared.
  • The profession of shoe cleaner was once very much in demand. Dirty shoes - this is a bad form, so all the high-ranking and just neat men regularly stood at the high chairs, around which were twirled young boys with brushes and shoe polish.

Little-known disappeared profession

The list of disappeared professions includes those that are heard by many. And there were also little-known: the buoy-breeders, the verbs, the cooperarians, the komashniki.

In the 15-18 centuries, the position of a titmouse was extended. These people mainly followed the replenishment of the treasury, the payment of peasants and dues (than not the tax inspection?), Participated in legal proceedings and police supervision. When they assumed office, they swore an oath of honesty and kissed the cross.

In construction, they did not do without coppers, piled up, transported and tiled. Today, their work is carried out by excavators, cranes and other equipment.

There were many other specialties, without which it was difficult to imagine society in the past.

Professions that disappear

Specialists regularly keep a record of demanded specialties and those that are on the verge of extinction. Today's disappearing professions are known to everyone. Super-speed technology and the development of the Internet generate new jobs, but you have to say goodbye to the usual crafts.

We will give examples of professions that will cease to exist in the near future. This is an irreversible process. However, in consolation many can say that new classes are replacing old ones, the list of which is constantly updated.

Disappearing professions:

  • The packer . Enterprises will no longer need manual packaging, people will soon be replaced by robots. Machines do not require days off, they do not need hospital, and they do not argue with their superiors. Already many companies and factories are moving to full automation of production.
  • Conductor . Modern public transport is equipped with a turnstile. It is installed in front of the entrance. To use the bus, you need to insert a card or lower the desired bill. It turns out that there is no need for a man who catches "rabbits" and sells travel tickets.
  • The postman, the cashier.
  • Librarian.
  • The journalist . They will be replaced by numerous copywriters.
  • Call center operator.
  • A watchman, a concierge, a lift attendant, a waiter.
  • Logist.
  • Miner.
  • Seamstress, weaver, potter.
  • Accountant, economist.
  • Architect.

Reducing the list of village artisans

Many rural professions disappear. There are fewer mowers, handymen in the fields, fruit pickers, blacksmiths and shepherds. Their work is carried out by harvesters, cultivators, garden machinery. There are practically no horses on farms, so there are no jobs for blacksmiths. And cows more often can be seen only on large farms, so shepherds disappear. The process of reducing rural processes in economically developed capitalist countries is especially pronounced, while manual labor in the fields is still in demand in developing countries.

Simple and clear specialties are closely intertwined with the world of high-tech technologies. Science and electronics are rapidly gaining momentum, and many countries simply do not keep up with progress. Probably, therefore, in some parts of our country there are such professions that have long gone down in history in Europe.

One of the consequences of the collapse of the USSR

Separately it is worth noting the profession of the USSR, which ceased to exist with the collapse of the country.

All studied and sought to take their place in the nomenclature of the party. Even the most extraordinary instructor of the district committee of the CPSU - it sounded proud and solid. Not to mention the secretaries of the district committee and others. Gone were the pioneer leaders, who instructed the pioneers on the right path and organized their leisure. Many professions of the USSR disappeared simultaneously with the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.

The indirect consequences of the disappearance of many professions

Even 50 years ago, the career was linear, it was reconciled and stable. In his youth, a man chose a profession for himself, received appropriate education and throughout his life was engaged in one thing. Today the picture is quite different. In the age of ultra-high-speed technology, this model no longer works. A person has to study all his life, mastering new, as a rule, narrow specialties.

High competition, fear of unemployment and constant mental stress - all this negatively affects the health of a person, his psyche, engendering neuroses, depression and mental disorders. As a result of permanent employment - insufficient attention is paid to the family, children, simple human connections are lost. This, in turn, generates child crime, which very quickly grows into an "adult".

One of the consequences of the rapidly changing reality and the disappearance of many professions is the growth of unemployment, the impoverishment of the population, the fall in the birth rate, which in a chain reaction generates a demographic crisis and social tension.

Such a "black" relationship was built by the New York analytical agency.

Professions of the future

Dying professions will be replaced by new ones that meet modern realities. Annually, leading educational institutions are certified to obtain permission to study new crafts. And they are connected directly with robots, nanotechnologies and computers.

Here is a list of specialties that are likely to be needed in the future:

  • Cyber - warden - will put order on the Internet.
  • The town guard is responsible for the greening of the city.
  • Master printer - specialist in 3D printing.
  • Personal chronicler - will establish all your roots and create a family record.
  • Specialist in microflora.
  • Operator of drones.

Today these are just theoretical conclusions. But once the cosmonaut was considered a fantastic profession.
