Day of Russian Entrepreneurship: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow

In October 2007, the President of the Russian Federation signed Decree No. 1381 on the establishment of another professional holiday. Since that time Russia celebrates the Day of Russian Entrepreneurship on May 26. To be absolutely precise, the Day of Russian Entrepreneurship could be celebrated on November 19, since it was on this day in 1986 in the USSR that it acquired a legal status.

Historically, entrepreneurs in Russia are a layer of educated and literate people who are well acquainted with scientific management practices and a good theoretical base. The emergence of entrepreneurship in Russia is a long and controversial process. The beginning of it was laid in the 9th century with the emergence of monetary relations and commodity exchange. In the 10th century, Russian merchants brought furs to the Khazar capital, and long distances were not a barrier to them.

In the 15th century, the number of merchants has increased, and they are actively beginning to subsidize power. Some trade people accompany the ambassadors as interpreters and advisers.

16 century - the development of foreign trade relations and the formation of a rich Crimean trade route. All trade takes place, mainly in Moscow. The policy of Ivan the Terrible against the merchants was twofold: on the one hand he brought traders closer to him, who were loyal to him and provided material support, on the other hand it was terror against some of them. There are cases of the defeat of the merchant class and the rich stratum of Novgorod for deterrence and replenishment of the treasury.

For the 18th century, the era of Peter I, characterized by investing capital in industry, transferring factories to private individuals, granting interest-free loans, pursuing protection policies to protect against foreign competition. At the same time, the quality of products was strictly regulated and controlled. On the one hand, traders got more opportunities and freedom, on the other hand, Peter's policy was implanted artificially and did not always bring the desired result.

In 1861, serfdom was abolished , which led to the liberation of large numbers of labor and the consolidation of small enterprises. The years of NEP are characterized by the introduction of a food tax instead of a surplus-appropriation, in industry trusts are created, the main feature of which is financial and economic independence. Several trusts could join the syndicate, whose functions included lending, foreign trade relations, sales and supply. In addition, there is a private sector in the industry, when a number of enterprises are leased to private individuals.

Today, the Day of Russian Entrepreneurship is a holiday for any type of business: large, small and medium, as it is entrepreneurs who are one of the driving forces of the country's economy. As there are constant economic and political changes in our country, it is very difficult to be an entrepreneur in our country, but it is honorable. Due to the fact that there are not enough state measures in our country to support medium and small businesses, its development is somewhat slow and contradictory. This is a permanent topic in the reports of the President and the Prime Minister, but, as they say, they are still there.

On the day of Russian entrepreneurship, exhibitions, trainings and seminars, forums, consultations and round tables where people actively communicate, share experience, ask questions and receive answers, find interesting ideas for further development of business.

Nevertheless, despite all the problems that arise, the number of entrepreneurs in Russia is growing, and on this holiday, the Day of the Russian Entrepreneur, we want to wish them professional success and "flair" for profitable "business ideas", good luck and benevolent attitude of state authorities. Perhaps, by the next holiday, as a gift, the amount and amount of taxes will be significantly reduced.
