Types of dentures, their advantages and disadvantages

Nowadays, dental clinics are able to perform miracles, returning smiles to the patients sparkling with whiteness. This is achieved with the help of modern prosthetics. Types of dentures exist different. There are removable, and there are fixed prostheses. Which one to choose for installation is determined based on the patient's oral cavity and its financial capabilities.

Fixed prosthesis is a design that is attached directly to the tooth or implanted into the jaw. The types of dentures in this category are: crowns, bridges, veneers and implants.

Crowns are installed if the tooth in the mouth of the patient is preserved, but has an ugly appearance and / or needs to be strengthened to prolong its life. Qualitative and correctly installed crowns last a long time. Often they are removed only when there are problems with the teeth, which they are wearing. This is their main drawback - they have to be removed (sawed) to treat the tooth under them.

The bridge is installed if one to three adjacent teeth are missing. Bridges, as well as crowns, serve for a long time, perfectly fill missing teeth, are aesthetically beautiful. The main drawbacks they have two. The first is that for their installation it is necessary to saw healthy teeth and put crowns on them so that you can fix the bridge. The second is that you have to remove the entire structure, if you need dental treatment under the crowns.

Veneer - a thin plate, strengthened on the tooth, which has visual defects. In contrast to the crown, when installing the veneer tooth does not need much cutting. However, these prostheses do not last long, they often get unstuck. The tooth should then be covered with a new veneer, or a crown.

Implants are established if there are no more than four teeth in a row or missing extreme teeth. These types of dentures have a number of contraindications, including the following diseases: tuberculosis, oncological at any stage, certain nerve diseases, hemophilia, other blood diseases, bruxism, chronic stomatitis, and others. But implants give a person who does not have the opportunity to apply a different kind of prosthetics, to have a beautiful smile and restore chewing functions.

When the implant is installed adjacent teeth are not deformed, and the bone tissue of the jaw is strengthened and does not resolve, that is, the patient retains the proportions of the face. Installation is carried out in two stages. First implant implant in bone. After the expiration of the time (from 3 months to one year), implants are installed on the implant. Metal ceramics is the optimal material for their manufacture. Based on the complexity of installation and application of high-quality materials, implantation is today considered the most expensive type of prosthetics.

A perfect alternative in the absence of three or more adjacent teeth are removable dentures. Their price is much lower than implants, and the installation has virtually no contraindications. Types of removable dentures include lamellar and clasp. Plate prostheses are fixed with the help of clamers, hooks, special toothpastes or medical glue. They are relatively cheap, but they cause a lot of addiction, sometimes they break the diction. In addition, the proposed types of fastening do not provide an ideal fixation.

Types of dentures bugelnyh include designs on clameras and locks. Climbers or metal hooks quite reliably fix the prosthesis, providing its owner with the most comfort in chewing and in conversation. The disadvantage of this design is that the claimes, sometimes, are visible with a smile, and spoil its aesthetic beauty. Prostheses on locks have the strongest fixation, are not visible, are not felt in a mouth. Their disadvantage is that you have to install crowns with a lock on the teeth closest to the prosthesis. The second disadvantage is the high price due to the difficulties in making this design, because parts of the lock, located on the crown and on the clasp, must coincide absolutely.
