Plot

"Country Oz" (reviews of the film below) tells of a girl from the village of Malaya Lala - Lene, who came to work in Yekaterinburg. There, on New Year's Eve, she manages to get a saleswoman in a grocery store. When Lena tries to get to work for the first time, it turns out that no one can tell her where the street of Torforez is located with the sales point that she should serve. Not wanting to lose work with a salary of 15 000 rubles, the poor girl begins to wander, getting into different situations. Meanwhile, in the kiosk she was waiting for the changer and comrade, who are nervous, because they are not happy with the prospect of meeting the New Year, do not understand where. Between them there is a sincere conversation, which turns into a dispute ...

Despite the fact that the filmography of Vasily Sigarev is difficult to call extensive, he managed to get a large number of prestigious film awards. And this despite the fact that his films are generously flavored with non-normative vocabulary and expose Russian reality in an unattractive way.

For the first time about Sigarev the international theatrical community spoke in 2002, when he staged the play "Plasticine" in London, on the "Royal Court" stage. He became the first playwright who does not speak English and has received the Evening Standard Theater Awards.

Immediately after the premiere, the film caused confusion among critics who did not expect to see such a tedious display on the screen of Russian philistine reality, brought to the point of absurdity.
