Cooling system VAZ-2107: instruction, repair

The VAZ-2107 cooling system is leaky, in contrast to the 2108 and newer models. But this does not mean that its functioning is much worse. True, there is one small drawback - you need to manually carry out the pumping system to get rid of air congestion in it. It is not difficult to do this, but you need to take into account the small tricks, which will be discussed below. Every car owner should know what elements the cooling system consists of, and what are the main signs of malfunctions.

Thermostat cooling system

You can even say that this is the main element, since it allows you to switch fluid flows between small and large circles. To put it bluntly, the big circle from small differs only in that the radiator participates in the work. When the engine is started, the liquid circulates through a small circle. So it will warm up more quickly and reach the working temperature (82-87 degrees). In this circuit, the stove is also on, so that in the car's interior it is possible to warm up more quickly in the winter.

It should be noted that the VAZ-2107 cooling system is also connected to the throttle valve. The injector must be heated to prevent condensation. It is this distribution along the channels that is produced by the thermostat, which is made of a bimetallic plate. There are several drawbacks: in case of breakage, circulation occurs over a small circle (the engine boils), it is impossible to repair it, it is required to drain the antifreeze from the system for replacement.

Liquid Pump

It is installed in the front of the car. This is a fairly convenient arrangement, unlike later models. Most importantly - the drive is carried out from the generator belt, which is not covered by covers. But this ends the pluses, the flaws begin. So, the liquid pump has the inputs and outputs to which the nozzles are connected. And each joint is a theoretical place of flow of a liquid. Violate the tightness of the connection at any time.

Do not inspire confidence in the bearing installed in the body of the pump. Often it breaks, which causes an unpleasant whistle. As with the replacement of the thermostat, it is necessary to completely drain the liquid from the system when the pump is disassembled. The engine cooling system VAZ-2107, as it was said, has two circuits. And the liquid pump allows the movement of the antifreeze on the nozzles. This cooling is much more effective, because the fluid does not stand still.

Electric fan

It's about the fan that is installed on the cooling radiator. It works quite rarely. It turns on only when the temperature at the radiator outlet is exceeded. At this point, a sensor is installed, or to be more precise, a thermal switch. It consists of a bimetal plate, which deforms at a certain temperature, changing its geometry. In this case, the contacts connected to this plate are mechanically closed.

It is worth noting that the VAZ-2107 cooling system, whose malfunctions can be eliminated quickly enough, is still not very perfect. The sensor, according to the manufacturer, is able to commute large currents, while it has an impressive resource. But it is better, that there was a degree of protection - inclusion should be made by means of the electromagnetic relay which is controlled by the gauge. So you can increase the resource many times. In addition, it is necessary in the cabin to have a button connected in parallel to the sensor. With it, you can force the fan.

Expansion tank

It is mounted on the body in the engine compartment. It is necessary to maintain the liquid level in the engine cooling system. When there is heating of the antifreeze, it expands, increases in volume. On cooling, the reverse process occurs. With all this, it is necessary that the liquid always, regardless of temperature, stay on the same level. It is for this purpose that the tank is provided.

Its functions are the same as those used in the heating structures of houses for the operation of boilers. Without it, the VAZ-2107 cooling system will not work. The carburetor also needs to be heated, so the height of the tank is the same as that of the fuel injection device. Please note that the marking on the expansion tank is the minimum and maximum liquid levels. You must adhere to the golden mean.

System connections

These are pipes made of strong rubber. Inside, there is reinforcement, which improves their parameters. They serve to circulate the fluid along the contours. Fastening of branch pipes is made with the help of metal clamps of worm type. But this kind of fasteners has a big drawback. If it is slightly tightened, the liquid from the nozzles will gradually come out, and a leak will appear. If tightened tightly, the collar or branch pipe may collapse.

Therefore, when tightening, attention should be paid to physical effort. And do not forget that the life of the nozzles at a run of 30,000 kilometers per year is not very large. There is a need to replace once in 2-2,5 years. By this time, temperature changes and exposure to moisture and dust lead to the fact that the surface of the nozzles is covered with microcracks, becomes fragile. Rubber, no matter how high-quality it is, wears and collapses. In addition, there may be a leak and, as a consequence, insufficient cooling of the engine.

Radiator cooling and stove

Two more elements, of which the VAZ-2107 cooling system consists. Injector or carburetor - it does not matter what is in the fuel supply system. The difference between these two radiators is only in size and shape. Also there is one small detail - to the main radiator connection of the branch pipe going from the expansion tank is made. Consequently, it has two nozzles at its entrance. Both radiators have fans. One contributes to the heating of the cabin, and the second allows for additional blowing for effective cooling.

Hence it can be concluded that if the fan fails on the main radiator, you need to open the stove cock and turn on the blower. In summer, of course, it is not very convenient, the effectiveness of such an action is much lower, but it avoids the boiling of liquid in the system. Therefore, the probability of engine damage is extremely small.

Cooling system maintenance

In order for the VAZ-2107 cooling system to function properly, it is necessary to carry out its timely maintenance, replacement of elements, as well as washing. When installing new nozzles or other parts, the amount of deposits in the system decreases, but do not forget that there are a lot of garbage in the unit's jacket and radiators. These are small particles of dust that enter the liquid and settle on the walls. Especially dangerous is the use of water as a cooling liquid. It leaves a large amount of deposits, which are difficult to get rid of.

System flushing

It is necessary to flush regularly. It is done simply, it is enough just to apply a special solution designed for this purpose. Fill it into the system, start the engine and let it warm up to the operating temperature. After this, jam the motor, drain the solution and repeat the procedure 2-3 times, just use clean water. Solutions designed for washing are very aggressive and can destroy rubber and metal with long contact.

Please note, before draining the system, wait a while before the temperature drops to a safe value - about 50 degrees. If there is damage, repair. Cooling system VAZ-2107 has two drain holes - on the radiator and the cylinder block. And do not forget to open the heater tap when washing to get a solution in the radiator. The price of this procedure on the SRT varies in the range of 500-700 rubles. This is not so much, compared with the repair.
