'Cavinton': instruction, contraindications, description

The international name of the drug is "Cavinton" - "Vinpocetine". It is this substance that is active in this medication.

In what form is Cavinton sold?

The description says that there are two possible options:

• White tablets. On the tablets there is a median facet, on one side there is an engraved inscription: "CAVINTON". In addition to vinpocetine, tablets contain talc, anhydrous silica, magnesium stearate, starch, lactose. The medicine is sold in blisters for 25 tablets. Each tablet contains 5 g of vinpocetine.

• Concentrated solution for infusion. It is a transparent greenish solution, packaged in ampoules of 2 mg. In addition, it includes sorbitol, ascorbic and tartaric acid, benzyl alcohol, other ingredients.

• Cavinton Forte contains 10 mg of active ingredient (vinpocetine) in a tablet with beveled edges, with the inscription "10 mg". On the reverse side of the cut risk.

At what diseases Cavinton is prescribed?

The instruction informs that the preparation is intended for strengthening the metabolism of the brain and blood circulation, enhances brain absorption of a substance such as glucose, normalizes the rheological properties of the blood.

The instruction recommends it for the treatment of neurological, ophthalmic, ENT diseases.

In neurology, vinpocetine is prescribed during treatment for conditions caused by a lack of cerebral circulation, the consequences of strokes, encephalopathies of various origins.

Use the drug "Cavinton" instruction recommends to get rid of dizziness, aphasia, speech and motor disorders, atherosclerosis, memory impairment, and some other brain disorders.

In ophthalmology, the drug saves from angiospasm of the retina or the shell of the eye, thrombosis, glaucoma, embolism.

No less useful is "Cavinton" (the instruction confirms this) for the treatment of Meniere's disease, hearing impairment, dizziness.

Gynecologists use Vinpocetine for prophylaxis of vaso-vegetative disorders associated with the onset of menopause.

Does Cavinton have side effects? Unfortunately, drugs that do not give side effects do not exist yet.

After the adoption of the drug "Cavinton", the instruction speaks about it quite clearly, arrhythmia may appear or worsen, vomiting, dry mouth, heartburn, nausea. Often, the appearance of skin rashes, skin flushing. Significantly there is dizziness or headache.

If side effects are manifested, the medicine can not be abruptly abolished: its dose drops to zero within 3 days.

Like many other medicines, Cavinton is contraindicated in pregnant and lactating people, sensitive to the constituents of the drug. Since his reception can cause dizziness or a decrease in reaction severity, Cavinton is appointed with great care to drivers, pilots, and others whose work is associated with the need for high concentration of attention.

The solution is administered only by drip, intravenously. For intramuscular injections, it is not intended. The daily dose rarely exceeds 20 mg vinpocetine in the infusion solution.

"Cavinton" is produced in Hungary. But this drug has domestic analogues. In Russia they produce "Vinpocetin", "Vero-Winpocetin".
