Bulgaria, Shipka - historical sight of the Balkans
Bulgaria enjoys favorable climatic conditions, picturesque landscapes, unique color, unique culture and traditions. Shipka is one of the small towns of the country, which is almost the most visited place. The area was inhabited as far back as the 11th century BC, at that time the Thracians lived here. During archaeological excavations, objects were discovered that prove the might and grandeur of this people.
Inside the temple there are marble slabs, on which are carved the names of the dead soldiers. 17 domes were cast from shells collected in the territory where the main battles took place. In 1934, also through the donations of the Bulgarians, a monument to Freedom was built. It symbolizes the long-awaited liberation of Bulgaria and is located just at the Shipka Pass.
