The water in them does not freeze even in the thirty-degree frosts, and its temperature is kept at 8 ° C. They are small in size, but there are places where the depth reaches 17 meters. Water from one lake flows into another, and then into the river itself.

Blue Lakes of Altai - how to get there?

By car, you can get to the Blue Lakes of Altai by leaving Biysk (Belokurikha, Gorno-Altaisk), moving to the village of Askat along the Chuysky tract. You can also take a bus. This type of transport is established here very well. The distance from Biysk to the reservoirs is about 170 km. The quality of the road is excellent. In order to reach the lakes, it will be necessary to completely stop the village in the direction downstream of the river. After that, you need to leave the car and go along the path. If the car is low landing, it is recommended to park it in with. Askat and continue his journey on foot, enjoying the scenic landscapes. Be sure, you will get a lot of impressions from this walk.

In winter, approximately in the middle of January to the Blue Lakes, located on the left bank of the Katun, you can get on the ice of the river. The village is located in a unique place - in the Askat Valley. If you believe local residents, the local territory has great energy, which it gives an underground lake and the Katun River. The village has a special microclimate: there are no winds, warm and mild winters. Grow apple-trees, cherries, pears and even grapes. The village of Askat was founded by the Old Believers in 1866.
