Alexei agreed with great pleasure, deciding to permanently cease all relations with amateur sports. He remained in the theater until his death in 1998. Some time passes, and he, again deciding to conquer a big sport, returns to training. In the summer of 1998 he offers Maria Petrova, with whom she already tried to skate a year ago, to stand with him in pairs. On the ice on June 15, 1998 a new pair, Tikhonov-Petrova, is formed.

Victory and defeat

In this debut, the young figure skaters won the European championship, and in Germany they were able to win the championship in the Grand Prix. They often repeated their success. And only the Olympic gold eluded them. In 2002, they were in sixth place, and in four years - in the fifth. In 2007, they decided to leave amateur sports and even quite officially announced this.

It happens in life that when working relations smoothly flow into personal. And since the "cement" in this case was sport, training, the guys feared that from the moment when the career is completed, the same fate will befall their feelings.
