Arcs for the greenhouse: varieties, assembly method

With the growing popularity of the installation in cottages and homesteads of light greenhouses in the market, the demand for arcs for greenhouse has increased. They are responsible for their durability and sustainability. This is a kind of "skeleton" of a greenhouse.
In general, plastic (or fiberglass), polypropylene, and also metal are used to make arcs. The price, weight, maximum dimensions depend on the material from which the greenhouse is made.

Another criterion by which the arcs for the greenhouse are distinguished is how to assemble and install the structure. There are two large groups: prefabricated greenhouses and welded ones. The first can be collected and disassembled several times. For this, plug-in connections without fasteners or with the use of metal products (bolts, nuts, screws, etc.) can be used. The disadvantage of this type of greenhouse can be considered their small size and relatively low strength. Welded greenhouses are much stronger, but after the assembly they, as a rule, are not subject to dismantling. Such structures are ideal for the infield and can be used all year round.

Let's consider each variant in more details. The case when the arcs for the greenhouse are made of plastic, is suitable for growing small plants, for example cucumbers or peppers. Such structures, as a rule, are covered with a film and used only in the warm season. To make such a hotbed at home is not difficult. As a frame, polypropylene pipes are excellent, which can be found in any sanitary ware shop. For welding, a special "iron" is used. Connections can be made and collapsible, but this will affect the strength of the entire structure.

Arcs of metal for a greenhouse can also be welded or prefabricated. However, unlike plastic ones, the second designs have become more widespread, as they are more rapid in assembly and do not require welding equipment and special skills. In the kit for these greenhouses is a detailed instruction, which greatly simplifies the work. As a covering material, polycarbonate or polyethylene film is mainly used. The metal frame is much stronger than plastic, therefore it allows to operate the greenhouse all year round, maintaining even the snow load in winter. Another undeniable advantage of metal arcs is the size of the greenhouses. They can be made in human growth and higher, and also cover large areas, depending on the design.

As for the independent production of metal arcs, the situation here is more complicated than in the case of plastic. The material is much more expensive, and besides the master must have special skills for doing such work, and also use welding and other construction equipment. In addition, the arc for a greenhouse to buy today will not be very difficult. The market is full of offers on the sale and production of greenhouses on individual sizes. Ultimately, considering all the costs, it is more profitable to purchase a finished structure with a metal frame, than to try to do something similar on its own.
