Antibiotic 'Alpha Normix' - use of the drug

The drug "Alpha Normix" refers to antibiotics of the rifamycin group. This product is available in the form of tablets, which are covered with a pink shell and have a biconvex form. The main active ingredient is rifaximin, and auxiliary ones are glycerol palmito-stearic ether, titanium dioxide, microcrystalline cellulose, propylene glycol, silicon precipitated, sodium starch glycolate, hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose, iron oxide (E172), disodium edetate and talc. Also, said medicament is also available as granules for the preparation of suspensions which are taken orally. They have orange color, taste and smell of cherries.

The drug "Alpha Normix" has a wide range of action and due to the fact that it receives irreversible coagulation of enzymes, has a bactericidal action against sensitive bacteria. This drug helps to reduce the intestinal-bacterial load that occurs in some pathological conditions.

If you take the prescribed dose of the drug, it is not found in the blood plasma , and if there is, then in small concentrations, as it is rather poorly absorbed. Thanks to this, almost all the drug "Alpha Normix", which enters the body, is in the gastrointestinal tract, where it carries out its direct action. This remedy is excreted from the body together with feces, very small concentrations of the drug can be detected in the urine.

The drug "Alpha Normix": instructions for use

This remedy is recommended for use in the presence of gastrointestinal infections, which are caused by bacteria sensitive to rifaximin, including:

  • Travelers diarrhea;
  • Hepatic encephalopathy ;
  • With chronic inflammation of the intestine;
  • If there is a syndrome of excessive growth of various microorganisms;
  • If there are acute gastrointestinal infections;
  • When a symptomatic uncomplicated diverticulosis of the colon is detected.

The drug "Alpha Normix" is also used to prevent infectious complications that are possible with colorectal surgery.

Dosage of the drug

The medicine "Alpha Normix" is prescribed for adults and children who are more than 12 years old for 1-2 tablets or 10-20 ml of suspension after 8-12 hours. On the instructions of the doctor, these doses can be adjusted.

Continue taking this medication for more than seven days and everything will depend on the clinical condition of the patient. Begin a second course of treatment with this drug can only after 25-40 days.

Possible side effects during drug administration

Since the drug "Alpha Normix" is poorly absorbed from the digestive tract, then there is practically no undesirable systemic effects.

Some people after taking the drug noted the appearance of nausea, dyspepsia, vomiting, abdominal pain.
