Anti Hijack - what is it? How to disable the mode?

Anti Hijack (Tomahawk, in particular, it contains) is a very useful feature that can save a virtually stolen car. But there are also cases when such a valuable option turns against the owner of the car, introducing the latter into a "dead" state. All the nuances and features of the regime, features of its inclusion / deactivation will be discussed further in the article.

Tomahawk: functional

"Tomahawk" (Anti Hijack - only a small part of it) is a multifunctional anti-theft system. The key to it is a two-way programmable keychain with LED indicators and a convenient LCD screen.

The system contains a lot of useful options, for example:

  1. Protected start / jamming of the engine at a distance.
  2. Remote switch off shock sensor.
  3. Self-diagnosis.
  4. Protective function against false alarm.
  5. Auto engine warming according to programmable temperature indicators.
  6. Disarming and opening the central lock in two steps.
  7. Protection of the hood, doors, luggage compartment.
  8. Daily startup of the engine.
  9. Ability to control the temperature in the cabin.
  10. Mode "Call the driver" and "Search for cars."
  11. Guard without triggering a siren.
  12. Engine blocking.
  13. Turbo timer.
  14. Bypass the faulty zone with the inclusion of an audible and visual signal.
  15. Modes "Panic", Valet, Anti Hijack.

The latter we will analyze in this article.

Anti Hijack - what is it?

Anti Hike (Hijack - English "steal, kidnap"), as well as anti-robbery function, anti-robbery mode, anti-theft option, is a function that fights against a robber without the owner's participation. Depending on the model of the anti-theft device, the Anti Hijack button can have one or three modes that interact with each other.

An alternative to this option is the "Panic" mode - when activated, the car starts to "bang" and blink all its lights. It is activated to attract the attention of passers-by and passing through to what is happening with the machine and inside it.

Active mode

The car owner, giving the key chain with the keys to the robbers, does not panic and in between presses the "secret" button. Therefore, it is much safer to keep keys and keychains separately - in this case, activate "AntiHayJack" can be unnoticed in your pocket. However, it will make sense only if the attackers along with the machine have not retired to a distance exceeding 20-30 meters.

Anti Hijack mode - what is it in this case? Robbers can enjoy a ride about a minute after it is activated, after which the car will flash "emergency calls" and safely stall in the middle of the road. The owner does not need to watch the further actions of the hijackers - they can quickly figure out what's wrong, and return for the key fob.

If there is a satellite search system in the car, then the operation of such Anti Hijack ends in the same way, only the button in this case is a smartphone, and the operator starts the anti-robbery mode.

The "cocked" mode

Anti Hijack - what is it in this mode? The car owner, before starting the engine and starting the traffic, launched the scheme of protection against capture by pressing the same "secret" button. This is the case when it is force-dropped from the car.

After the door slams, the anti-theft system "asks" again to press the button to confirm that the car was closed by the owner. Without such an answer, the engine "dies" after a while.

With this mode, you should not worry about the speed of your reaction or the strength of exposure to hijackers. But in this system there is a significant minus - the owners are themselves in her captivity, forgetting to identify themselves again by pressing the button again.

Passive mode

In order for the anti-theft mechanism to work with it, the owner does not need to do anything at all - you just need to remember to take the radio tag with you to the car. After the ignition is switched on, the system begins to check the presence of this lighthouse in the cabin. Finding it, it does not interfere with the further movement of the vehicle.

Repeated check is started when stopping, opening / closing doors and pressing the accelerator pedal. Not finding the desired, the system muffles the engine and turns on the alarm.

Passive mode for today is the most effective and safe, not bringing even the most forgetful driver. An inadmissible error is the use of a label in conjunction with keys.

Anti Hijack - how to disable

As already mentioned, in the cocked mode, due to accident or failure of the key fob (for example, the button is full), the owner himself may be a prisoner of the Anti-HaiJack system. If the car stalled, got up in the middle of the roadway, "screams" - what to do?

You can specify a callback in one of the following ways:

  1. After locking the engine, turning the alarm and turn signals off, then immediately turn the ignition back on. Within ten seconds, catch the clamp and release the Valet key. If a secret code for disabling the system is installed, enter it. However, be careful - if the cipher is entered three times incorrectly, the next attempt to enter it will only be available after a while.
  2. Find the "secret" button OverRide. Then switch on the ignition. Make the number of button presses equal to the first digit of the pin code. Then turn off the ignition and turn it on again. Now the number of clicks must be equal to the second digit of the cipher. After these actions, the anti-theft mode must be disconnected. If you did not change the secret code yourself, then the standard for Tomahawk systems is 11.

Valet - Features and Functionality

With the question of what Anti Hijack is - what it is like to disable it, we sorted it out. The next function, Valet, closely related to it, also deserves attention.

This option is necessary in order to temporarily disable all security functions of the system. She does not obey only the "Panic" option. As already mentioned, "Knave" deactivates "AntiHayJack". If she can not cope with this task, you can take out the batteries from the key fob for a few minutes, and then install them again.

Do not tell a large number of friends about the location of the secret activation button Valet, which in a matter of minutes makes the car completely defenseless. Also, do not include this mode in the presence of strangers.

You can activate the mode using this algorithm:

  1. Turn the ignition switch on and off.
  2. In the cabin itself, find and hold down the button mode switch, counting out ten seconds after the ignition is turned off.
  3. On the activation of the alarm mode will inform you with characteristic sounds.
  4. Subsequently, when the machine is operated in this mode while the ignition is being used, the system will notify you of it with beeps.

Many models of key fobs allow you to perform this procedure remotely.

Disabling the "Jack" is simple:

  1. Turn the ignition key to on / off.
  2. Counting 10 minutes after turning off, press the button switch.
  3. The system will mark the return to the normal mode by a visual and a light signal.

Remote disconnection is done according to the same scheme, but instead of the above button, the keys with the lock and the loudspeaker on the fob are clamped.
