Andrey Silnov. Biography, personal life, interesting facts

Each Olympic medal has its own unique history, which begins almost from the very birth of its owner. So today we will immerse ourselves in the biography of a young man who came to the sport to reach the highest altitude in the literal and figurative sense of the word.

Andrey Silnov

The biography of the athlete is full of interesting events. In the small town of Shakhty, which is in the Rostov region of the Russian Federation, on September 9, 1984 the boy Andrei was born. Family Silnovyh a little fond of sports, my mother - track and field, father - boxing. Andrei's older brother brought him to the track and field athletics section. When eventually he tried to leave as a teenager, then, having received a slap and talking like a man from an older brother, he decided to stay. Now, the Olympic champion Silnov Andrey will never regret it. Athletics became the meaning of his life.

The beginning of sports career

The first coach in the Shakhty sports school was Sergei Ivanovich Starykh, then the athlete moved to Zagorulko, Yevgeny Petrovich, who trained famous champions in height Anna Chicherova, Ivan Ukhov (until 2008). Actively engaged in high jumps, Andrei Silnov reached the heights of a master of sports of international class and in 2004 was included in the Russian national team. Having won the championship of Russia in 2006, Andrei took first place in the European Championship in Gothenburg (Sweden), while setting a record for the competition in its form, having jumped by 2.36 meters. Two years remained until the most important competition in the life of every athlete - the Olympic Games. From this moment a special story begins. As you know, behind every great victory of a man is a woman. We do not always see and know who she is, but in this story we will open the curtain.

Fateful encounter

Usually, athletes of summer and winter disciplines rarely intersect, but there was an amazing coincidence. In the city of Podolsk, as usual, the team of athletes conducted their training. At that time, because of the terrorist attacks in Turkey, the skating team canceled its flight to the plane. Having crossed the bus, they also went to the same sports facilities, where a meeting of sports stars was to be held. The owner of the Olympic bronze medal in speed skating (team pursuit race) in Turin (2006) Ekaterina Lobysheva and newly baked European champion Andrey Silnov met with glances. Andrey at once liked the beauty, and Catherine, though she congratulated her future beloved person on the victory, did not prophesy a serious relationship. After several conversations, going to the movies, Andrei Silnov and Yekaterina Lobysheva parted for their winter and summer competitions, which did not overlap. Andrew still after a few months learned where the Russian championship will take place, in his native city of Catherine - Kolomna. Arriving there with a large bouquet of roses, Andrei presented them to his beloved, who had just come down from the pedestal with the gold medal of the championship. The girl's heart finally melted at that moment. Katya, loving the queen of sports, learned to jump from the height in Andrew (even jumped to the first adult discharge of 1.60 m), and Andrew, in turn, came to the ice rink to learn from his beloved glide on the ice. After many falls, Katya's colleagues appreciated Andrey's worthy efforts and applauded.

The power of love works wonders

And now comes the 2008 Olympic year. At the qualifying championship of Russia Andrei Aleksandrovich Silnov is on the fourth position. This meant that the doors to the Olympics were closed for him. Came home Catherine at midnight calmed and inspired her beloved man. Who, if not she (the one that was a stone's throw from the golden Olympic pedestal) could understand, share and inspire Andrew. God or fate brought these people together so that the miraculous continuation of this story turned out. Katya said that if there is at least one attempt to get to the Olympics, then Andrei should use it.

Olympic champion

On New Year's Eve Catherine made a wish that her beloved became an Olympic champion. Andrei Silnov is doing the impossible. Before the Olympics on July 25, at the Grand Prix in London, he wins the competition with the best result among all the jumper in Russia. After long meetings of the federation, Andrey was added to the Olympic team at the last moment. Lobysheva, watching the competition live, seeing a familiar gleam in the eyes of her beloved, calmly confidently said: "Today he will be an Olympic champion." So it happened. With the result of 236 centimeters, which Andrey took on the first attempt, having beaten his main competitor in the sector - Swede Stefan Holm, he obtained an Olympic gold medal. In the title of the Olympic champion, Andrei Silnov wins a few more competitions - the Super Grand Prix in Switzerland and Germany, the Challenge of Russia competition (Moscow 2008).

Andrei and Catherine stayed together for 2 years, there were no children, but they gave birth to this Olympic award together. Later, Catherine married a motorcycle racer Alexei Naumov. Andrew took a wife Alexander, who is engaged in legal practice.

New achievements

Injuries prevented Andrei Silnov from moving forward in his sports career. But the athlete actively advocates and promotes athletics both in his native city, where he holds the post of deputy of the council, and throughout Russia. At the moment he is the first vice-president of the All-Russian Athletic Federation.

In 2007 he graduated from the State South-Russian University of Economics and Service with a degree in Applied Informatics in the Service Industry. In 2013 he became Master of Diplomacy of the Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. For the development of sports in the country and on the international scene was awarded the title of "Honored Master of Sports" and "Order of Friendship" from the President of Russia (at that time, Dmitry Medvedev).
