All shades of blue: a palette and combinations

Many people know that color is the subjective characteristic of the electromagnetic radiation of the optical sphere, which is determined on the basis of the emerging visual physiological sensation. It depends on a number of psychological, carnal and physical moments. The perception of color is determined by the individual's identity, as well as by the spectral composition, brightness and color polarity with non-luminous objects surrounding the light sources. Very important are such phenomena as metametry, hereditary personal qualities of the human eye (the degree of expression of visual polymorphic pigments) and the psyche.

Simply put, color is the impression that a person receives when he sees light rays in his eyes. The same effects of these radiations can cause different feelings in different people. In fact, every observer sees his true color.

One of the base colors

Blue is the name of a group of tones. Blue people perceive the spectral color under the influence of electromagnetic radiation with wavelengths in the range 440-485 nm. This is one of the basic elements in the GLC system.

Among the shades of blue, three types are especially distinguished: azure, cyan (blue-green) and ultramarine.

Blue

We will study all shades of blue tone. What is blue? This is either a group of elements of blue with a slight shift towards green, such that there is still no sense of a green hue, or the usual light colors of the tones of the blue zone. Spectral blue roughly harmonizes with the shade 130 in the color mode Windows (OOBFFF16).

Very often it is defined as a faint blue or bluish one. In this version, blue is usually referred to as objects, which among others are distinguished by a weak blue tint. In particular, blue people think of veins, blood vessels: when we see them under the skin, we perceive the color subjectively as emanating a blue tone.

A source

The blue color does not belong to the base and intermediate colors. It is not included in the colors of 1st, 2nd, 3rd rank (system (color circle) red-blue-green, system red-yellow-blue).

In red-green-blue mode, this color refers to the 4th rank (between cyan (green-blue) and blue-green-blue). It can be depicted as green-blue-green-blue.

Some prospectors believe that the Russian word "blue" comes from the name of the bird "pigeon". Others say that birds were called "pigeons" because of their color. Some argue that the word "blue" is akin to the word "deep", since the transparent deep water bodies have a bluish tinge, and clean air generates a blue sky.

If there is an obvious impression of a green outflow, the blue turns into cyan, and afterwards - into turquoise. The English word Blue means "blue", but is usually translated as "blue". This color is roughly the same as tone 140 in the color mode Windows (140-240-120, 0080FF16).

Natural pigments and dyes

Shades of blue exist in nature. So, turquoise has bluish-greenish tones - depending on the deposit. Lapis lazuli in ancient times was very expensive, as it was one of the scarce blue pigments.

Physics of vision

The sky looks blue. In fact, it radiates all visible colors, but the degree of dispersion is inversely proportional to the wavelength of the 4th power. In fact, in this case the visible range is maximum for blue, violet and blue beams. For human eyes, such a mixture seems blue.

Polygraphy

In the CMYK system, one of the main four colors is cyan. It is sometimes called blue, although in reality this typed color should be called blue-green. Combined with the red in the glasses "Anaglyph", he reproduces a three-dimensional image.
