Magnitogorsk, as is known, is the largest business and industrial center of the Urals and one of the cities of Russia, which is located at the junction of the two largest continents - Europe and Asia. An important economic importance is also the international airport of Magnitogorsk. It is located 14 km west of the city itself. The date of the founding of the Magnitogorsk airport is considered to be August 15, 1930, because it was then that the Soviet pilot Pichugov SG. On the plane of foreign production "Junkers" the first flight was made. The airline actively expanded, in 1932 the airport terminal was already built. Regular flights were opened in 1933 on the route Sverdlovsk - Magnitogorsk.

In the 1950s, the rapid development of the airport began. In 1951, a regular daily flight was opened on the route Magnitogorsk-Moscow, and in 1956 work began on the construction of a new airfield complex.

In the 1960s, flights to Aktyubinsk and Minvody began to operate, the Magnitogorsk Aviation Squadron was established.

1970 was marked by the commissioning of a new terminal building. By 1975, the airfield was able to receive the An-26 and An-24 aircraft, and since 1992 - the Yak-42.

The first international flight was made in July 1994 in the direction from Magnitogorsk to Istanbul and back with refueling in Sochi. By 1999, the runway and the terminal building were reconstructed.

In the period from 2000 to 2012, the airport of Magnitogorsk received permits for receiving domestic and foreign aircraft.

The airfield complex, thanks to modern navigation equipment, is capable of receiving aircrafts in any weather conditions.

Air carriers "Pobeda" and "Yamal" are engaged in seasonal passenger transportation to Sochi and Simferopol respectively.
