In the first case, the soil will dry up all the time, rosettes of berries wither, the plant will ache. And in the lowlands accumulates excess moisture and cold air, which also has a negative impact on the crop. But this is not all! The next principle, how to prepare a garden bed for strawberries, is to pick up such a place that it is not blown by the winds, and that the snow lies in the winter long enough. And, finally, another important nuance is how to prepare a garden bed for strawberries: the planting site should be changed every 3-4 years, because during the culture cultivation in the soil, bacteria of various diseases affecting strawberry bushes accumulate.

The question is springing up: how to prepare a garden bed for strawberries in the fall? This can and should be done before the first frost, in late September or early October. The soil moisture is good, and fertilizers (and they will be required) will soak into the soil well. Not bad, if you take under the landing that part of the garden, where you grew garlic, onions, carrots or peas, parsley or dill. The pungent smell of some plants and the low consumption of mineral substances from the ground by others, on the one hand, broke up the majority of pests and killed harmful soil microorganisms, and on the other, did not strike too much on the fertility of the earth. And the strawberry will feel comfortable here! Carefully dig up the soil, throw out stones and other debris, deal with the weeds, especially their roots. If the groundwater is close to the surface, the height of the beds should be at least 35 cm. If they are deep, dig up 10 cm up, no more. The width of each is the most optimal - within 100 cm. The depth of digging is not less than 35 cm. Be careful and collect the possible larvae of beetles and other pests along with the garbage. Be sure to break the earth with pitchforks and shove it, so that there are no large blocks. Level the plot with rakes and sprinkle with ordinary sand, so that snails and slugs do not creep onto the fresh kopka. Leave this kind of beds for several days. Then, add manure, as well as lime, with a large content of calcium. By the way, they can be applied in the fall and in no case in the spring, when the seedlings are planted.
