Acid rain and its consequences

Acid rain is a natural precipitate with acidity, which is several times higher than normal. To date, scientists have not yet established all the effects of acid rain. No less dangerous is aluminum, which, gradually accumulating for several years, can affect the development of all kinds of neurological diseases.

Acid rain may occur due to the burning of fossil fuels, while nitrogen and sulfur oxides enter the atmosphere. Sulfur oxides, combined in the atmosphere with droplets of water, form sulfuric acid, which, falling out with rain, causes damage to the economy and nature (fishing, forestry and agriculture, etc.). European forests are damaged by almost 38% of the area, it is likely that when the soil is acidified in huge areas already irreparable damage has been caused. Acid rain has had a negative impact on the soil of North America, Europe and Asia, and recently there have been reports of damage to the living world of marine waters.

The most disturbing aspect of the consequences of sulfur emissions is the inability to influence the problem, even controlling emissions at the plants.

The amount of damage to the environment is difficult to assess, as it depends on the composition of the soil and bedrock. Solving the problem of atmospheric pollution with sulfur dioxide involves reducing energy consumption, improving control over emissions or searching for and creating alternative methods of generating electricity.
