"A trip to the past" (F. Abramov): a brief summary. "A trip to the past" is a novel in the genre of village prose

Fyodor Abramov refers to writers who worked in the genre of village prose. This direction was very popular in the second half of the twentieth century. It was easy for him to write his works in this direction, it was easy for him to write on this subject, since Abramov was born in the Arkhangelsk region. The summary ("A trip to the past" by that example) of novels that come from his pen makes us think about the destinies of not only small villages, but the whole of Russia. Not surprisingly, they have recently been included in the compulsory literature program. More mature readers can be advised to get acquainted with the trilogy "Pryasliny", which was awarded the State Prize.

Fedor Abramov: "A trip to the past"

Many works of this prose writer were difficult to censor. The novel was written back in 1974, and it was published only at the very beginning of perestroika - in 1989. Unfortunately, the author did not wait for the publication. The story was published in the magazine "New World", and later it was published in the posthumous collection of works.

This story differs from similar works in that it focuses not on events that occurred with the hero, but on social conflicts and the psychology of people in the military and post-war years.

What, according to the prose writer, had a negative impact on people

What did Fedor Abramov write about in his works? A "trip to the past," a brief summary of which we are considering, tells how the party's policy in the pre-war years (approximately 1920-1930) affected the lives of ordinary people. This was the period of the dekulakization of wealthy peasants, who broke millions of destinies. At that time, those who, according to others, lived better and had more than others around them, referred to the north of the country. It was possible to get on the lists of the dekulakized for the slightest prosperity.

All this with pain for his people figuratively described Abramov. The summary ("Journey into the past" in this plan is especially characteristic) of his novels, if you review them, highlights the main problems that the erroneous policy of the party contributed to the emergence:
• collectivization;
• dekulakization;
• the emergence of fanatics, adherents of the revolutionary movement;
• drunkenness of village lumpen proletarians.

True keepers of traditional values in the time described by the author were in the minority and this, too, can be called a tragedy.

The main character and his image in the story

The central plot of Abramov (a short summary, "A Journey into the Past") tied around Mikishi Kobylin. Modern authors would find it strange to choose such a hero, but in this work he looks organically. Miksha worked as a village groom, loved to drink and was sure that his relatives - the leaders of the revolution, were honest, brave and noble people. All the actions that the uncle of the hero was doing, were perceived by him as a reference.

In his time, the Miksha disowned even his father and changed his last name. This was greatly contributed by the uncles, who gave him a different example than his father. Soviet ideology at that time was very strong. The main character did not realize until the last, with whom he takes the example. He was repeatedly tried to open his eyes to the next of kin, but he did not penetrate into what old Fedoseyevna was telling.

What actually did the native Mikshi

What is F. Abramov talking about further? A "trip to the past" (short summary) describes the picture of the events of those times very colorfully and emotionally. Mikha Kobylin considered his uncles to be the leaders of the revolution, which was promoted by the propaganda of the regional museum. In fact, Methodius broke many fates. Even his death could not atone for the sins committed in life. For example, according to the stories of the local resident, he was subjected to mass executions.
But more difficult for Miksha was the truth about his uncle Alexander. The true cause of his death for a long time hid. The truth opened for the main character quite by accident - he went to spend a stranger to the abandoned village of Kurziya. His name was Kudasov, and the family of fellow traveler Mikishi was exiled to the North several years ago. Sister Kudasova at 15 years already worked, her duty was cleaning in the commandant's office, where she was raped by Alexander. For this reason, he was killed by fellow traveler Miksha, who at that time was only 14.

Scenes of dekulakization - the most complex and vivid in the story

Let's return to the main story, which Abramov described. A brief summary ("A trip to the past" we are considering) can be continued by the fact that there are a lot of bright and brutal details in it about the procedure of dekulakization. The author knew about the life of the disenfranchised not by hearsay, he himself spent his childhood in the Arkhangelsk region, where the immigrants from the south were often sent. On the streets of the villages, battles between natives and the former "kulaks" sent to them have occurred more than once.

Sam Miksha, despite his young age, tried to participate in actions held by his uncles, along with adults. He hated the dekulakized and, despite his young age, helped dismantle the cross from the chapel. He also participated in fights. As a memory of his childhood, Mikishi had a broken nose, which, as it turned out, hurt Kudasov. This is the main character realized during the conversation.

How did the Miksha influence the truth

It is also important what the main character did after the conversation with Kudasov. A difficult choice makes the main hero Abramov. "A trip to the past" (the summary only shows it partly) - the story is primarily about the truth and about what it can do to a person. Of course, it is important to have a correct idea of the world and the events that occurred in it, but in the case of Mikši, the truth became disastrous. After he spent Kudasov, the Miksha can not go home: he is tormented by the truth, which he learned about his relatives. For the sake of them, he denied the closest person - his father and, as it turned out, in vain.

Tearing his thoughts and memories, the Miksha went to his father's grave and froze there. People told him that his father was a real model for imitation - hardworking and honest. Unfortunately, it was too late to change anything. Truth knocked down the Miksha, killed from the inside.

The story is read easily enough. Find out all the details, feel the talent of the writer will help only the book itself, its full content. "A trip to the past" (Abramov himself repeatedly stressed this) tells about the life of a simple Russian person with knowledge of the question, this story is interesting primarily from a historical point of view. It describes events without ideological coloring and fading actions of representatives of the Soviet government. That is why the story was highly appreciated by the author during his lifetime, but he was not in a hurry to publish (at that time, the pressure on the publishers and mass media on the part of the official authorities was quite strong). "Trip to the past" is a very modern work that can influence people's feelings and make them rethink their actions. It is worth reading not only in brief content.
