Wooden blinds - advantages of natural material

Enjoy the perfect design of the room can prevent a mere trifle - the bright sun. It seems everything is thought out, the colors are matched, the furniture is arranged and all the decor elements on the ground, but the sunlight does not relax and causes the desire to turn to the window with your back. This, of course, is unpleasant, but not all is lost. You can install wooden blinds on the windows and not only escape from the obsessional light, but also give the window an extra expressiveness.

Advantages of natural material

If your choice has stopped on fabric, plastic or metal blinds, then the window will also be reliably protected from bright light, but it is the wood that is natural and completely environmentally friendly material. The only drawback of the tree is the high price, but in the case of window protective systems, the amounts are not so large as to give up a stylish purchase.

The main advantages that wooden blinds have on windows are:

  1. High degree of opacity.
  2. Ecological cleanliness of the material.
  3. Durability of the structure.
  4. Aesthetics.
  5. Variety of color solutions.
  6. A variety of design and design solutions.

Blinds made of wood give the room a special chic and cosiness. The natural material will unobtrusively emphasize the respectability and good taste of the owners.

Varieties of structures

Wooden blinds can be of two types: horizontal and vertical. In the horizontal construction, the lamellas are parallel to the floor, in the vertical - perpendicular.

Another difference is the way the louver is fixed. The structure can be inter-frame fastened, that is, be fixed between the window sashes, and the internal fastening, that is, it will be fixed inside the room on a special cornice.

Wooden lamellas can have different widths. Horizontal options can have a width of up to 50 mm. Vertical - much wider, from 90 to 130 mm.

Self-installation of the structure

Typically, an independent installation is chosen as the most economical option, but in the case of wooden blinds, this is not quite so. The owners of the premises perform an independent selection and installation, when they want to get a truly unique sun protection system.

To make wooden blinds with your own hands, you will need the following materials:

  • Wooden slats of the required thickness and width;
  • Strong cord;
  • Self-tapping screws;
  • Electric drill and drills;
  • Lacquer and stain (color pigment) for processing.

The work begins with the measurement of the opening of the window and the calculation of the required number of lamellas. It is taken into account that the plates will overlap each other by approximately 1 cm.

If necessary, they are sanded, covered with stain and varnish. After drying, drill holes for the cord: two on each side and one on the center.

The cord, threaded into the side holes, should be 30 cm longer than the total height of the blinds. The cord, passed through the central hole, is equal to the double length of the window height.

The lower bar should be fixed to the ends of the cord. Now you need to retreat 4 cm and tie knots in such a way that they are more holes in the lamellae. On the nodes the next bar is supported, and so on to the end.

The assembled canvas is fixed on top of the window frame or wall above the window. It is done this way: at the top of the frame or on the wall, special fastening elements are mounted on which the cornice is laid. Through the bar, the side cords are thrown over, on which the lamellas are assembled, and tied. In fact, your wooden blinds are installed. The central cord after the transfer through the bar is fixed in the form of a loop (you can instead attach it to the overflowed end of the cord a decorative heavy object). The central cord performs a regulating function - it controls the degree of lifting.

Care of the structure

Caring for the design is not difficult. For maintenance of cleanliness enough to wipe wooden blinds with a dry brush or rag. Sometimes a tissue napkin can be slightly moistened with water. If desired, you can clean the lamellae with a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush.

Try yourself as a designer. Wooden blinds on the windows of your house will be an excellent complement to the interior and make it perfect.
