Wild bull: views and photos

Evolution is an amazing mechanism invented by nature. Thanks to her, thousands of species of animals appeared, very similar to each other, but with hundreds of differences. The wild bull also did not become an exception, after all its family totals set of subspecies.

These proud animals live practically in all corners of the globe. Representatives of wild bulls can be found in the desert savannah of Africa, and on the snow-covered expanses of Tibet. What do we know about these animals? What are they special about? And why is their fate considered one of the most tragic on the planet?

The sad fate of the horned giant

Once upon a time in modern Europe there was a wild bull tour. It was a majestic beast, weighing just a little less than a ton. His horns made him tremble with fear of numerous enemies, except for man. After all, thanks to the latter, this kind of wild bulls has not survived until our times.

The wild bull tour was a good source of meat and skins, because of this, hunting was opened on him . And given the slowness of the beast, even the weakest hunter could kill him. According to historical data, the last tour died in 1627. And yet the memory of him has not disappeared, because it is this mighty handsome man who is the ancestor of almost all known kinds of bulls, including domestic ones.

Zubr is the closest relative of the tour

One of the closest relatives of the tour is a bison. It is a large animal, at the withers, reaching almost 2 m. At the same time, the weight of the giant sometimes oversteps the limit of one ton, which makes it one of the largest representatives of its kind. The bison has a dark brown wool that can warm it in severe frosts.

Previously, this wild bull lived throughout the territory of modern Europe, Russia, and also in the Caucasus. But, as in the case of tours, the animal was often attacked by humans. This led to the fact that the number of bison was sharply reduced, and at the beginning of the 20th century they were on the verge of total extinction.

From oblivion, they were rescued by environmental organizations, which undertook the restoration of the bison population. They placed these animals in the reserves, where they are still under close surveillance and protection.

Wild bulls of North America

Another relative of the tour, but this time already overseas, is the buffalo. This wild forest bull lives on the territory of North America and its appearance strongly resembles a bison. True, the wool of a buffalo is much longer than that of its relative, and sometimes reaches 50 cm in length.

And yet, like in the case of bison, this wild bull was also subjected to tyranny on the part of man. So, if at the beginning of the XIX century their population numbered more than 60 million heads, then a century later this number fell to a mark of 1 thousand. What was the reason for this? The answer is simple - immigrants.

The new colonizers began to kill animals in order to feed the workers who built the railway tracks. A little later, the hunt for buffaloes became more like fun, rather than for food. There were even actions according to which those who bought tickets for the train could shoot from windows on poor animals.

Fortunately, over time people came to their senses, at least some of them. Bison was protected and provided them with all the necessary conditions for the growth of the population. Now this wild bull is safe, but still the fighters for the environment continue to closely monitor their numbers.

In the cold mountains of Tibet

Snow-covered mountains of Tibet served as a haven for one of the most amazing animals - yak. It is a wild bull with huge horns that reach 80 cm in length. A thick brown coat protects it from frost and snow. And muscular legs allow you to move without problems from one cliff to the other.

And although yak can be found in other regions of Central Asia, such as Altai and Kirghizia, it is only in Tibet that these animals feel at home. After all, here their contact with a person is kept to a minimum, which means that nothing threatens their freedom.

Lovers of hot countries: gaur and buffalo

On the territory of India, a gaur - a wild bull dwells, amazing in its size. Cases were recorded when adult individuals reached a weight of 1.3-1.4 tons. The height of the adult beast varies between 1.8-2.2 m at the withers. The horns of the Gaur are not too big, in any case less than those of their relatives. The coat has a dark brown color, and with age it darkens and becomes almost black.

Buffalo is another fan of hot climate. This animal lives in the savanna of Africa, where the temperature sometimes oversteps the threshold of 40 degrees in the shade. This animal has strong horns, almost fused in the lower part.

And although this wild bull has impressive sizes, yet among the local inhabitants it has enemies. Lions and crocodiles quite often hunt them, and, nevertheless, the population of these animals is out of danger.

The smallest wild bull

Among the wild bulls there are dwarfs. For example, ano. This tiny creature has an increase of 0.8-1 m. At the same time, its weight varies between 150-300 kilograms. The smallest part of the body is the horns. They are only 30 to 40 cm long in anaaa.

These bulls dwell on the island of Sulawesi, which is in Indonesia. Since these animals are found only here, they are protected by the World Organization for the Protection of Animal Rights.
