Why do we need antistatic floors?

Antistatic floors consist of a copper tape woven in the form of a grid, a conductive layer with a filler and a primer. From above they are covered with a special polymer conductive layer. They are resistant to alkalis, water-acid solutions, petroleum products and mechanical pressure exerted by trucks and vehicles with plastic and rubber wheels.

Application area

Antistatic coating is applied to the mineral substrate, which must have sufficient compressive strength and humidity within 4%. It can be rigid-plastic or cement-sand screed, mosaic and ordinary concrete. The substrate can be pre-prepared with special formulations. The scope of such sexes is quite extensive:

  • Electrotechnical industry;
  • Food enterprises (dairy, flour-grinding, bakery plants);
  • Distilleries;
  • Oil refining and chemical industry;
  • Military facilities;
  • Aviation sphere (production and storage of equipment);
  • Production of medicines;
  • medical institutions.

Such coating is optimally suited for objects with high requirements to the class of cleanliness and explosion hazard. The most widespread it has acquired in laboratories, where antistatic properties and resistance to chemical attack are of particular importance.

Features

Antistatic floors have a glossy, even elastic surface, on which joints and seams are absent. They have a high level of mechanical resistance, resistance to wear and electrical conductivity. They are also not affected by vibrational and shear loads. Coverage can hide cracks and damage in the base with a size of no more than 0.5 mm. At the same time, it does not absorb moisture, and the dirt is removed by conventional means.

Due to the fact that antistatic floors prevent the occurrence of electrical discharges, there is no likelihood of breakage of electrical devices and violations in their work for this reason. Consequently, dust particles do not attract to the surface, which considerably simplifies the care and cleaning.

The glossy coating is presented in different shades, so anyone can choose the right option. The arrangement is also possible in unheated rooms. Most often it is chosen due to vapor permeability, intrinsic safety, hygiene and absence of secreted odors.

Filling floor

This type of coverage is often used in the arrangement of premises. It is divided into several types, among which there is also an antistatic floor, which is characterized by many positive properties. These include protection from chemical, mechanical attack, pollution and moisture.

Antistatic flooring, as it becomes clear from its name, also prevents the appearance of static electricity. This is what ensured its spread to industrial and military facilities.

Linoleum

Antistatic linoleum is indispensable in premises with a lot of electronics. It can often be found in production and automatic telephone exchanges. There are several types of floor coverings, classified according to the resistance parameters. This category includes a material whose resistance is not less than 109 ohms. The current-dispersive coating is characterized by an index equal to 107 ohms. The conductive material has lower values.

When driving on a special linoleum, an electric discharge occurs, which is within 2 kW. This is achieved by adding special components in the manufacturing process - strands or carbon particles. Also, to obtain additional properties, the current-dispersing ingredients and graphite are used.

Application of linoleum

With increasing conductivity characteristics, the dependence of the properties of the material on water, which is the conductor of electricity, decreases. That is, it becomes clear that the antistatic linoleum is suitable for use in any premises. It is the best option for flooring in children's institutions, laboratories, medical offices. It is also desirable to use it in facilities where there is a high risk of ignition from electric discharge and there is a large number of high-precision equipment.

In addition, antistatic floors are often used in banking departments, medical institutions, sound recording studios and computer clubs. Linoleum of this type belongs to the category of special, it is characterized by the presence of additional characteristics of current carrying, anti-skid, strength and durability. It is also worth noting the existence of a roll rubber material, which is often mistakenly considered linoleum. This coating has a two-layer structure, current-dissipating properties and the ability to connect to the ground loop.
