White coating on the white currant. What is this disease and how to fight it

Most owners of household plots annually observe how a white coating on a white currant is formed. And you can see it not only on white, but also on red, and also black currant. It should be noted that it is the leaves of the shrub that are affected. What is the source of infection of this amazingly delicious berries? It is a fungus that spends the winter on affected shoots and damaged fallen fruits. In summer, a white coating on the white currant is formed again due to fungal spores, which are preserved on the "spoiled" organs of the plant. Bushes are gradually "infected", their immunity to frost is reduced, and after a couple of years the currant dies completely.

What are you the same symptoms of the above disease?

If you saw a white coating on the white currant, namely on the leaves of the bush on the underside, be aware that this is the first sign of the disease. Over time, the layering of the white shade will appear on the petioles, berries and young shoots. In the future, the plaque will condense, its color will become slightly brown, and eventually it will transform into felt with black dots. This is the fruit body of the fungus.

Affected by such stratification the berries acquire a grayish shade, and it is impossible to eat them. If such symptoms occur, this means one thing - the time for effective treatment of the bush is lost. The gardener remains at the onset of autumn or early spring to destroy all without exception damaged leaves and shoots.

At the same time, it must be emphasized that a white coating on a white currant is formed not more often than on black or red varieties. As a rule, the disease "progresses" in the summer. Often it is infected from the affected gooseberry. Favorable conditions for the development of the disease are high humidity of the air and soil, as well as warm weather. You can destroy the disease only at the initial stage of infection.

White coating on the currant leaves is eliminated by spraying them with special chemical preparations. It is necessary to process the shrub several times, and it should be done strictly according to the instructions.

In order to combat the wintering infection, copper sulphate is widely used, which is sprayed with a plant in cloudy weather or in the evening. At the same time, it is necessary to control that each section of the sheet is treated with chemical composition. In hot weather with sunlight, spraying is not recommended.

If the currant is covered with white coating, then this problem can be eliminated without "any chemistry".

For example, you need to prepare the following composition. It is necessary to take the bent hay or mullein in the amount of 1/3 of the standard bucket and soak the above ingredient in three liters of water, and then insist for three days. After this, the resulting substance is dissolved once more in water in a ratio of 1: 3 and strain. This "preparation" should be treated with the plant 3 times, namely: before the flowering period, after the flowering period and before the falling leaves.

Just as effectively combats with white coating on the bushes of currant wood ash - it should be placed in dry form in the near-trunk areas of bushes.

To minimize the risk of damage to the currant by the above disease, acquire varieties that have the greatest immunity to it.
