What should be the structure of a guitar

One of the most popular musical instruments is a guitar. On it are performed classical works and folk compositions, pop and unformat songs. If you know the structure of a guitar, then it's easy to learn how to play it. Therefore, let us now briefly consider the parts of this musical instrument and which of them is responsible for what.

The structure of the guitar from the very beginning

As you know, the main elements of any guitar - it's body and neck. In turn, the case is divided into two decks. The upper one is under the strings, and the lower one, respectively, from the back side. Equally important is the round hole in the upper deck, which is called the voice, or resonator. Its diameter should be strictly 8,5 centimeters, otherwise the sound of the instrument will be spoiled.

The structure of the guitar necessarily assumes the presence of the most important element - the strings. Behind the resonator on the upper deck is a stand, to which they are attached. And on the stand itself (its height can vary) is the lower one, for which each string is hooked. The sound of the instrument depends on the height of these parts. If the stand is high, then the guitar will play brightly, expressively, sonorously. A low stand provides a softer performance.

The lower deck itself is much more massive than the upper one. It is often made of two pieces of wood joined together. At the junction, they form a edging that stands out on more expensive tools. The upper and lower decks are interconnected by a shell. This is a figuratively carved tree in the form of a figure-eight. This guitar structure provides the most beautiful and harmonious sound. It is important only that all parameters are met.

Now we move to the neck. To the guitar shell is attached his heel, or base. It can have a round or sharpened shape. The base of the neck is made of wood, like both decks of the guitar, but in this case preferences are given to more dense wood species. On the surface of the neck are metal stripes, which are called frets. Looking at them, the musician determines the tonality in which the piece will be performed. On the neck of the standard Spanish guitar, there are 19 frets. Two adjacent ones form a semitone, respectively, to clamp the guitar tone, you need to skip one fret.

Crowns the entire system of the head of the neck, under which is the upper sill. Through it, the strings pass and are fixed to the pins. The second adjusts the pitch of the sound, adjusts the instrument.

The structure of the acoustic guitar assumes the presence of 6 strings. The same number remained after the electronic analog of this tool appeared. Thanks to the presence of 19 frets, you can create any harmony. This guitar covers a very wide sound range.

The structure of the bass guitar

A bass guitar that does not play without electricity has a similar structure. It differs only in that the number of pins and strings on it is 4. Also worth noting is that the neck of such a guitar is longer than that of an ordinary one. This provides a lower and more dense sound.
