What is a rollback and how to do it?

In the life of each user comes the moment when the computer starts to brake and hang. And in time this can go into the system failure. But do not panic, as the OS developers foresaw such a possible turn of events and made it possible to roll it back. What is a rollback and how can it help?

What is the essence of

Rollback allows you to return the operating system to the previously created recovery point. We can say that the meaning of the word "rollback" is the restoration of the system. According to the principle of action, it is similar to creating a save in the game, to which you can return, if something went wrong. It should be understood that this is a return to the previously saved point, so all newly installed drivers and programs will be deleted. But this is not always bad news, as the most common cause of computer brakes are the programs.

But if there are files to restore, then they must be stored somewhere. And they can be stored on one of the discs, where they reserved a place specially for them. If the rollback function is disabled, then you must connect it. The algorithm is as follows: open the properties of the computer with the right mouse button: "Properties" - "System Protection", then select the disk from the suggested ones and click "Create". The thing is very useful, so you need to know what a rollback is and how to use it.

Possible causes of problems

Before doing a recovery, you should understand the causes of the problems in the programs, because, besides it, there may be other methods for solving the problem. Return to the control point should be used, if other methods do not correct the problem. The most common causes of problems are:

  1. Programs and viruses. The Internet is teeming with various programs, and not all of them are safe. After downloading and installing a malicious or virus-infected utility, you can cause considerable damage to your computer.
  2. Windows Updates. The operating system Windows constantly downloads and installs updates, which after a while interrupt the older ones and can not work normally, while slowing down the PC. In this case, the user is hard to understand what the problem is. But if the user knows what a rollback is, he can return the system to the state in which it was before downloading the updates.
  3. Antivirus blocking. An antivirus program can block and delete important files for the work, considering them malicious.
  4. User intervention. It happens that very curious users accidentally delete the necessary components for the operation of the program or OS, as a result of which there may be problems.

Roll Back Computer System

You can restore the OS in several ways.

1. Through the "Start" menu. Open the "Start" - "All Programs" - "Standard" - "Service" - "System Restore." A window appears showing the date of creation of the recovery point. When you select a recovery point, the "Search for affected programs" button appears. Clicking on it, you can see what will be removed after recovery. Then click "Next", and ready.

2. In safe mode. Before downloading "Windows" you need to press F8, then select "Safe Mode". Next, you can roll back the computer system through the "Start". This method is good in case there are problems with the operating system, and it does not boot or displays a blue "death screen".

3. From the boot disk. You can restore the system from the Windows boot disk . We insert the disk into the drive, press F12 and select the disk drive from the list for the primary start, if it is not the default. The Installer window opens, where there are 2 buttons: "Install" and "Restore the system". Click on the last one and wait for the end of the process.

Useful function

Every computer user should know what a rollback is. It will help without problems restore the damaged program and return the OS to the working state.
