What is a blender for? How to use a submersible blender?

In order for everyday work at home to bring a minimum of hassle and provide maximum enjoyment, there is a whole army of electrical and mechanical assistants. One such device designed to perform a number of tasks in the kitchen is a blender. But not all the mistresses use it. There are several explanations for this fact. Firstly, not all have it. Secondly, elementary laziness (to get, collect, then wash). And, thirdly, sad as it sounds, many simply do not know what a blender is for. To the question does not remain rhetorical, it is worth a little understanding.

Types of blenders

Globally, these kitchen assistants can be divided into 2 categories: stationary and submersible. The first is a jug (it can be of different size and shape), which is placed on the support, which serves both as a stand, and a motor, and a knife at the same time. A submersible blender is a portable device in the form of a knife or several attachments attached to a handle. It is also included in the power grid and hides the engine inside.

Regardless of the type, blenders differ in power and number of nozzles. True, stationary with a sufficient number of additional functions is often called a food processor. A portable blender can perform the function of a mixer, prepare dough and make mayonnaise. The stationary one basically mills, whips and mixes (does what the blender needs initially).

Main functions

If we consider the simplest version without additional attachments, then the tasks for this device are only 3: grind, beat up, mix. Undoubtedly, there may be a question about why a blender is needed, if there is a meat grinder and a mixer. With their help, you can grind the products or beat them into a homogeneous mass. And to mix and hand out well.

Of course, the question of whether a blender is needed in the kitchen, each hostess should decide on her own. But not a single cocktail made by hand, will not get so homogeneous and tasty. Especially if among the ingredients there are solid components (ice, fruit or berries). Meat grinder is a good and necessary thing, but puree in it will never work. And no mixer in the world will make such a homogeneous curd mass for a royal cheesecake or a filling for an open pie.

What is a blender for?

The submersible is usually used to cook soup, mash vegetables or meat for baby food or make mayonnaise. Attachments for kneading dough, making a cream for a cake can also be attached to it. Some manufacturers even equip it with some kind of a small stationary jug, in which the products are easily and conveniently crushed.

If you need to make a batter (for example, for pancakes), this will take literally 2 minutes. Of course, in the presence of a stationary blender. All products (milk, flour, salt, sugar, eggs, vegetable oil) are simply sent to the pitcher and turn on the engine for a couple of minutes. And that's all. To achieve such homogeneity by hand, it will have to be beaten for at least 15 minutes.

Similarly, you can make fruit purees and milkshakes. That's why you really need a blender. Naturally, then you'll have to wash both the pitcher and the knife. But to facilitate this work, there are other kitchen assistants, which also should not be ignored.

Baby food

Parents of the 70's, 80's and even 90's of the last century remember well what they had to do to prepare the first food for their babies. And vegetables, and meat, and soups had to be welded first, carefully choosing only the best products. And then all this was hand-rubbed through a metal sieve. And all just to treat your child with a teaspoon of mashed potatoes. Apples rubbed on a small grater, damaging their fingers and nails. And in the end, most of the mass was eaten by themselves (not to lose the same good). Some dared to buy ready-made mashed potatoes, although who knows what they actually put there. And all because they did not know how to use a blender. More precisely, then, by and large, they were not.

In fact, everything is extremely simple: the products need to be cooked, a little salt, then shredded with a blender. It takes just a minute - and the mashed potatoes are ready, though meat, even vegetable or fruit. By the way, you can also chop the porridge in a ready-made form.

How to choose a blender?

First of all, you should look at the power of the electric motor. It is from this characteristic that the performance of the device depends, and consequently, the speed of its operation.

Undoubtedly, the manufacturer is also of no small importance. But to buy a 300-watt blender of the world leader of kitchen appliances instead of a kilowatt from the category of "know-it" for the same money, most likely, it is not worth it. The warranty period for them is likely to be identical, and they can be made at one plant.

Which type of device should I choose? The answer to this question depends on what you need a blender for. Or rather, for what purposes it is purchased. If it is planned to prepare children's mixtures and soups with mashed potatoes, it is better to take a submersible. And for pancakes, casseroles and cocktails - stationary.

As for additional attachments, they can safely be sacrificed. As practice shows, most housewives do not even take them out of the box (except for the whisk for mayonnaise). In the worst case, they can always be purchased additionally by ordering on the manufacturer's website or through a service center.

Still need cheese (100 grams.), Ideal for blue mold, but it's quite suitable for ordinary Dutch, a little salt and butter, greens.

A pan with a thick bottom is put on the fire. Melt the butter, fry the peeled and chopped onions, and chopped garlic. Vegetables should become soft. There also send broccoli, disassembled on the inflorescence, milk or broth, and then cook for about 20 minutes. In the end, salt, cream and cheese are added to the soup, boil for another 10 minutes, removed from the heat and, after a little cooling, is whipped with a blender. A blender is better to take a stationary one. Put all the ingredients in it, shake it - and the cocktail is ready, you can pour on the glasses.

How to care for a blender?

All household appliances, including kitchen appliances, should be kept clean. This applies to the blender. Regardless of the type, manufacturer and other parameters, it should be washed after each use. And then it is desirable to put in a box or a specially assigned box.

Before you grind food or mash, you need to make sure that the components have cooled down to at least 80-70 degrees. From the boiling water plastic parts can deteriorate. And more: do not rub dry food without adding liquid there. This primarily applies to soups and sauces.

Undoubtedly, you can do without blender and mixer, microwave and meat grinder, dishwasher and many other devices. But with them and more comfortable, and more pleasant, and faster.
