What does computer consist of. Advantages of self-assembly

The cost of computing is declining every day. Now you can buy a computer for yourself, even a schoolboy who refused to spend other pocket money and collected the right amount. The natural desire of each person is the desire to choose good products at the lowest cost, so the computer selection begins with the study of value. Visiting stores in search of the best offer, a potential buyer sooner or later pays attention to the windows, with computer components placed on them.

Usually everyone who is not too hurry or constrained in the means, begins to wonder what the computer consists of, in order to subsequently assemble the system on their own. As a result of buying in parts, it is possible to get the optimal model for the price / performance characteristic, because none of the sellers will pick up the components of the future whole computer for free. A modern computer has a block structure similar to a children's designer, so the process of connecting components in a single system is extremely simple. No oil, no fuel oil, no soldering iron is needed.

After all, what is inside that metal box called the system unit? This is what we will talk about today, in passing, answering the question about how to assemble the system unit.

First of all, you need to remember that the metal case of a computer is not a processor. If someone calls a system unit a processor, then the knowledge of such a person in computer technology is minimal and, most likely, he does not know what the computer consists of.

The basis of any computer is the motherboard. Its electronic circuits integrate all components into a single device. Each card is designed for use with a certain type of processor.

The computing unit is represented by a central processor. This is a fairly large chip with a lot of legs, although there are varieties without legs, but only with pads (manufactured by Intel). The main processor manufacturers are AMD and Intel. In the range of the first various modifications of Athlon and Phenom, and the second produces the famous Pentium and Core. Also there are specific offers, like Intel Atom, but for home desktop computers it is better not to use them. When choosing one should be guided by the principle: the more cores and the higher the frequency, the better.

What does the computer consist of yet? The next mandatory component is the RAM modules. Outwardly they represent a narrow bar of textolite with chips disconnected on it and a comb of copper sliding contacts from one side. Currently, two standards are distributed - DDR3 and DDR2, with the latter being already numbered, as new boards do not support it anymore.

The video card is responsible for displaying the picture on the screen. It can be a separate component, inserted into the motherboard connector (discrete), and can be integrated into the processor itself. If you need high performance, for example, in games, then you can not even think about built-in solutions. Issue two major companies - AMD and NVidia. The products of other manufacturers are presented in a smaller assortment and often inferior in performance (for example, the integrated Intel HD solution).

Also inside the system unit is a hard disk that is plugged into the board. Although with the advent of downloadable flash drives, the need for it can be partially questioned.

To complete the assembly it remains to clarify what the computer consists of and complete the complete set with a CD-ROM drive, a casing with a power supply and peripheral devices (mouse, keyboard, monitor). The sound card was not listed intentionally, since all modern motherboards contain its built-in version.
