What are collections?

The word "collection" has a Latin origin and is translated as "meeting". In the fashion industry, this word means a series of models of clothes, shoes and accessories that has a common idea (color palette, type of fabric, shape, type of cut and sewing) and is released by one person.

The main sign - the integrity of models the only style, manner, color scale and creative approach of the author. Another sign of the collection is the dynamics of the idea's development. That is, during the display of models should be shown different nuances that reflect the development of the author's intention.

What is the collection, everyone is well-known from the TV shows about fashion, in which they tell about new developments of famous couturiers.

It can consist of accessories, sets of clothes or individual items of the author. Famous designers and designers create collections in which they simultaneously represent author's clothes and accessories.

  1. Copyright - this category includes author's works, in which the designer expresses his own concept of clothing. These include collections of pret-a-porter, haute couture , etc. This group also includes unique collections designed for demonstration at exhibitions, presentations, contests and fairs of international level.
  2. Industrial - designed for mass production. That is, industrial series of clothes, shoes or accessories are originally designed for sale in huge quantities. They are demonstrated at regional fashion fairs. As a rule, industrial collections are more restrained compared to author's works, but at the same time they contain all the fashion trends. What is an industrial-type collection, everyone knows from personal experience. They are presented every season at local fairs and various exhibitions of clothing and footwear.

How to create a new collection

During its creation, designers and designers necessarily take into account such important factors:

  1. Appointment - sports and casual wear, sets for sleep, evening dresses, business suits , etc.
  2. Seasonality - autumn-winter or spring-summer. Sometimes a new collection can be developed only for one season.
  3. Age category - clothing for babies, elderly people or for young people.
  4. Assortment - swimwear, outerwear, shoes, bags, hats.

What happens to the old collection

Each company that produces clothing, footwear or accessories, there are situations when the seasonal goods are not fully realized, and there are some stocks in the warehouse. In this case, manufacturers come in two ways. So, the firm can organize a sale, offering the buyer discounts and bonuses. This method is very popular and always brings good profits to the organizer of the sale. In addition, this method of selling obsolete things in fashion very often stimulates the sale of a new collection. The buyer comes to the store on a tempting offer to buy a stylish thing at low cost, and as a result buys an expensive novelty.

The second popular way to sell the remains of the old collection is to sell wholesalers at a significantly low price. In this case, the old collection goes into the category "stock". Stock clothing is sold in specialty stores.
