In his history, at first he took over for a long time in possession of all the new and new princes. Such an active struggle was due to the fact that the city had the most important strategic and transport significance. For some time the place was under the rule of the Lithuanian prince Svidrigailo. In times of distemper Volokolamsk was occupied by the Poles, in a word, its fate was quite heavy.

K. Rokossovsky. The Germans attached great importance to the seizure of the important road Volokolamsk-Moscow, a large number of fascist divisions were sent here, among which there were a lot of tank divisions.

Almost a whole month of large-scale battles in the area. However, thanks to the courage of the Soviet soldiers, the invaders failed to penetrate the defensive line on the way to Moscow.

Volokolamsk: how to get there from Moscow (all possible options)

As mentioned above, it will not be difficult to visit Volokolamsk and it will not take long. You can come here in several different ways. One of them is by private transport. There are two ways for this. The first - along the Volokolamsk highway about 100 km from MKAD. The second variant of the route is along the Novorizhskoe highway, the distance is also about 100 km.

Another way to get there is the Volokolamsk-Moscow bus. Buses run daily from the metro station "Tushinskaya". The average journey time is 1 hour 50 minutes. Thus, you can quickly overcome the route Volokolamsk-Moscow. It is better to specify the bus schedule in advance, as it can be changed. Usually they start to run from 5 am to 8 pm. For an hour, an average of 1 to 3 buses leaves.

Another option is to travel by train. Electric trains to Volokolamsk follow from the Riga railway station. The journey time is about 3 hours.
