Victory Park on Poklonnaya Hill. Moscow Victory Park. Poklonnaya Hill: how to get there?

The Park of Victory on the Poklonnaya Hill became a magnificent architectural monument with an emphatically solemn atmosphere embodying the spirit of heroic patriotism of the participants of the last world war.

Amazing beauty and scale, the park has become a favorite holiday destination, captivating and winning the hearts of its visitors.

"The affairs of days gone by ..."

Already for several centuries the gentle slope on which this park is located was called Poklonnaya Hill. From these heights, the travelers, as far back as the 16th century, looked at Moscow, its surroundings, bowing to it and its inhabitants (hence the name of this historic place). The visiting people were fascinated by the city panorama, local beauties and, bowing, left gifts as a sign of respect. However, according to another version, a bow (still in feudal times) was a tax, mandatory for all travelers entering the city.

The Last Frontier

A few centuries later, historical documents show how Napoleon stood in this place, impatiently waiting for the keys to the capital's gates and the triumphant celebration of victory, but ... his hopes were vain.

It was Poklonnaya Gora that became the last frontier that played a crucial role in those dashing times.

Memory of contemporaries

During the Great Patriotic War, passing the Poklonnaya Hill, the defenders of the Motherland marched to the front. In the second year of the war, it was at this place that the project of a memorial dedicated to the future victory over the invaders was proposed. But the realization of such a project at that time was absolutely impossible. Return to the previously unrealized design occurred in 1958, when Moscow's Victory Park was planted, planting trees on its territory and installing a commemorative granite sign.

On the occasion of the half-century anniversary of the victory over the Nazi invaders, on May 9, 1995, the solemn opening of a stunning memorial complex, including a park and a museum, monuments and religious temples, a majestic square and the Eternal Flame, as well as other interesting monumental and historical objects was timed.

Surroundings of Poklonnaya Gora

Spread out on a territory of 135 hectares, Victory Park on Poklonnaya Gora is strikingly amazingly grandiose architectural embodiment of the greatest human gratitude to the defenders of the Motherland who defended their fatal future in the fierce battle with the enemy for their descendants. In the center of Moscow, not far from the park zone, there is the Alexander Garden, as well as the cozy Filevsky Park and many other attractions.

The ideological symbolism of the park avenue

The architectural design of the main avenue of the "Year of War" symbolizes the significant milestones of those war years. Stretching from the Central Museum of the Great Patriotic War to Victory Square, it includes five terraces, as the embodiment of five years of war. The number of days of hard times corresponds to the number of fountains (1418) located on five water surfaces, and the height of the stele (141.8 m), which is crowned by the goddess of victory, Nick.

The spectacularity and solemnity of the flowing water streams is emphasized by a multicolored backlight, especially impressive at night. Victory Park on Poklonnaya Hill is famous for the constantly operating exhibition of military equipment, which includes more than 300 models and models of military and engineering equipment of countries participating in the Second World War. And the exposition of this museum under the open sky is constantly updated, introducing an enthusiastic euphoria, especially in children's souls.

Museum relics

The Central Museum of the Great Patriotic War deserves special attention, in the special windows of which the Memory Book consisting of 385 volumes is kept. On its pages, the names of people who died during the fascist invasion are imprinted. One of the most significant relics of those years is the victorious banner, raised over the defeated Berlin Reichstag on April 30, 1945. Museum funds carefully store a huge number of handwritten and photographic documents, specimens of fine art, household items and other evidence, reliably telling about the most difficult years for our country.

Active-extreme holidays

Park Poklonnaya Gora is best suited for skiing "with a breeze" on rollers, skateboards and bicycles thanks to spectacular descents, ascents and numerous stairs. Their extreme craftsmanship attracts a myriad of onlookers, admiring with delight the incomprehensible tricks, comparable to circus art.

Some of the outside observers subsequently themselves join in such an actively-impressive form of recreation, which is favorable for the rental of sports equipment, a sufficient number of which is available in the park. Children's playgrounds and a swing, an amusement town and a virtual cinema attracts young tombsters Poklonnaya Gora. Moscow cordially invites people interested in history on an exciting excursion on a road train. The study tour, accompanied by an electronic commentator, summarizing a lot of interesting facts, leaves a rather pleasant impression.

It is understandable why the annual events on Poklonnaya Hill, dedicated to the Victory Day, make such an indelible impression on the younger generation and, to some extent, raise the morale of the veterans of the last war. In a solemn atmosphere, there is a horse parade, and at its end - a concert of symphonic music and contemporary domestic performers. After the completion of the planned events, the traditional fireworks blossom.

In addition to this grand celebration, various information, cultural and charitable events take place on the territory of the park zone.

The grooming of the flower beds and the elegance of the lawns have a positive effect on the popularity of this park, attracting aesthetes. In general, it should be borne in mind that it is impossible to inspect all the park sights and take part in various solemnly entertaining and sporting events in a week.
