Verkhalaznye work: features of industrial mountaineering

Looking at any modern city from a bird's eye view, you can be surprised by the richness of its infrastructure. Almost the wall in the wall with residential buildings can accommodate buildings of various institutions, industrial enterprises, high-rise business centers, department stores and other facilities. Not to mention the numerous bridges and various towers. Truly the density of development of modern cities is amazing. All this makes it difficult to conduct construction and repair work. The more comfortable the territory, the more difficult it is to use special equipment.

To do this, there are steeplechases, which are often conducted by people with extreme training - climbers, climbers, speleologists, who decided to make their dangerous hobby a major specialty. With success and high efficiency they replace bulky mechanisms with a reliable rope, an assembly belt and virtuosic technique of working on the vertical wall of the "stone jungle".

Although more and more centers for the training of industrial climbers are being opened every day, up to now, horse-riding work has been carried out in most cases by athletes who have often ascended to the highest mountain peaks or descended into the abysses of the deepest caves. Of course, all of them previously receive special construction skills of high-altitude work.

Work at altitude, in other words, steeple work - is a variety of operations performed at a level of at least five meters above the surface of the earth, a floor or a working floor. That is, they are such working conditions where a person and his insurance remain alone with the space stretching below. Dangerous job! Therefore, labor protection when working at height sets special requirements for safety. The main protection against falling funds, according to the rules of high-altitude work, are the safety belt and the safety rope. To protect the head, a special helmet is provided, which must first be checked and must have a quality certificate.

Steeplejacks have their own interesting history. So, even in severe blockade times, a group of Leningrad climbers (now they would be called industrial climbers) was carrying out the most complex task of camouflaging the golden domes of cathedrals, which deprived the Luftwaffe pilots of the opportunity to conduct an aim bombing on the St. Petersburg churches. Now one can only guess what shape it would be today for the cultural and spiritual capital of Russia, if not for the selfless and heroic work of the first domestic industrial climbers.

It is also interesting that high-altitude work was officially legalized in Russia in 2001, when this profession was entered in the appropriate register and thus legalized. Although such a complex and dangerous profession, of course, existed long before it was officially recognized.

Today, the services of industrial climbers are extremely demanded for the performance of both erection, and facade, and restoration, and cleaning works. And also when lifting bulky cargo in hard-to-reach places. Often, only a professional industrial climber, who has psychological training to work in an unsupported space and special skills, is able to mount an advertising banner, clean the roof of a high-rise building from ice and snow, or wash the windows of a skyscraper.
