Verbal communication or How we exchange information

Verbal communication is communication with the help of words and verbal means. Literate human speech was considered a pride at any time. Thanks to her, the public status of the individual rose. Communication exists in two forms - verbal and non-verbal. And if mistakes in your gestures and facial expressions are not so obvious, then the errors in speech, even the most insignificant ones, become noticeable to everyone around you. Therefore, we should consider how this communication is, what are its features.

Note that verbal contact includes several actors, each of which may have several positions:

1. Listening. A person who perceives what has been said, heard.

2. The speaker. A person uttering remarks.

3. Reader. Here the individual stands at once in two hypostases: a person reading offers, listening to them, and simultaneously pronouncing them to himself.

4. The writer. A person who writes cues on paper or other storage medium. He performs three roles: listening, speaking and meditating.

5. Meditating. In this role, the individual acts when he has a certain conversation with his inner self. In this case, he speaks and listens at the same time.

    Verbal communication, based on this, is divided into two types: written and oral. Oral verbal communication is spoken. It is possible in a situation where one person is talking and the other is listening. This kind of communication appeared before the rest, because it does not require writing and the ability to read. As for the written variant of communication, a person here can act both in the role of the reader, and in the role of the one who writes. For this kind of communication, media carriers are of fundamental importance: without them, it simply can not exist. Such means can be the following: paper and electronic media, the existence of which became possible after the emergence of a computer and the Internet.

    Remember that as soon as the speech is spoken, it goes into the oral form. Verbal communication with ease becomes oral, it is only necessary to read the text aloud. Because the borders here are very thin.

    However, very often in the communication process there are some difficulties that prevent understanding and perception of information. Therefore, the notion of so-called communicative barriers arose . They can be:

    1. Phonetic. It arises as a result of the presence of speech defects in the speaker (diction, accent, intonational features).

    2. Logical, which certainly appears, if the interlocutors have different types of thinking. An example is the level of intelligence development.

    3. Verbal communication can be difficult due to the semantic barrier. It arises between people belonging to different cultures and nations. The essence of the obstacle is that in the same words a different semantic load appears.

    4. Stylistic. It is inevitable when the construction of the message is broken. To prevent this, you must strictly follow the order of the message: draw attention to it, generate interest, indicate the main points, discuss and allow the interlocutor to draw a conclusion.

      Verbal communication is built on four communicative levels:

      1. Intuitive. A person, hearing information from afar, understands what is at stake, and also feels the reason or purpose of the statement.

      2. Ethical. His signals are intonation, facial expressions, gestures and eyes.

      3. Logical, which provides a clear and structured exchange of information.

      4. Physical, the signals of which are touches. This is possible only when the distance between the interlocutors is insignificant.
