It shows how different his main characters are, Veresaev - the contest was only announced, and one is already on the road, fearing that he will be able to surpass, and the second is peacefully engaged in economic affairs.

The teacher and student sit down to drink wine and talk about the upcoming competition. Twice-Crown asked the Unicorn, when he will go on the road to seek beauty. To which the student answers that he has long found it, referring to his beloved Zorka.

The teacher continues his journey, he swims from island to island, bypasses the village behind the village. Months have passed. But the artist did not find the truth of beauty. Despair began to embrace the master. But somehow in a month of violets he saw a girl descending at dawn from the mountain. He fell to her knees in front of her with a cry: "This is it!"

The most beautiful woman

A fairy tale comes up to its denouement, which Veresaev wrote. The match (a summary of this illustrates) between the artists begins. The month of grapes has come. The residents of the city gathered in the Square of Beauty. Two huge rectangular canvases were lined up on it and hung up to the time.

At first, this aroused laughter among the residents, then they nearly smashed the artist with stones. But after a few moments the noise began to subside, and the laughter ceased. People saw the girl's eyes, which radiated with kindness and love. The gathered saw in the portrait what they saw in their beloved Unicorn. Zorka seemed to shine from within, and this light spread around, illuminating the audience. Their faces changed, they became more beautiful, filled with this light. Husbands no longer worried about the imperfection of their wives, they realized that their women are beautiful, and the beauty around and in themselves.

And then there was a shout: "Let the Unicorn be thrice-crowned!"

Thus Veresaev ("Contest") ends his work. The brief content (brifley) gives an opportunity to understand the idea of the author - spiritual beauty above physical.
