Typical symptoms of glossitis
Glossitis is an inflammatory process in the tissue structures of the tongue, changing its color and structure. Pathology is characterized by increased salivation, pain when chewing and swallowing food, loss of taste and speech difficulties. Symptoms of glossitis also manifest in hyperemia, swelling, burning tongue. The appearance of the main signs of the disease entails a feeling of discomfort. At the same time, it is possible to form phlegmon on the neck.
The cause of glossitis is a bacterial or viral microflora. The emerging pathology can develop as an independent ailment, but can serve as a sign of a systemic disease.
Symptoms of glossitis at later stages are painful and difficult eating. Significant puffiness of the tongue becomes the cause of slurred speech of patients. At the first signs of pathology, it requires immediate treatment. Otherwise, the disease becomes chronic. Symptoms of glossitis in this case are manifested by dense and persistent swelling with a change in tissue structure. With a very neglected form of the disease, mushroom-shaped growths can be formed in the tongue.
If the pathogenic microflora caused the appearance of glossitis, the symptoms (the photos you see below) first manifest themselves in the form of foci of acute inflammation and swelling of the tongue. They are accompanied by a fever and pain in the mouth. Treatment of this pathology is primarily aimed at eliminating the causative agent of infection.
Symptom of neglected glossitis is the appearance of an abscess. In this case, a pulsating acute pain arises in the oral cavity. Another sign of neglected pathology is an uneven increase in the language, which becomes the cause of slurred speech.
