Gleb Stepanov - biography and concert activity

The names of the performers of classical music are recognizable only in narrow circles. This is due to the fact that they do not attract public attention with shocking acts and loud divorces. Gleb Stepanov is one of the most famous cellists, who became famous thanks to the organization of the Crimean festival. Fans of classical music know him as a talented young performer.

Biography

The future cellist was born in Leningrad, shortly before perestroika, in 1987. Parents note that he was attracted to music since childhood, so he did not have to think long - the boy was sent to a specialized school. He always liked cellos, but the first two years of education Gleb Stepanov received a basic - in piano. The boy had to persuade the teacher and the principal for a long time to be transferred to the cello course.

Despite the fact that all dissuaded Gleb, in 1995 he fell into the classroom to Irina Bogdanovich. She was a very demanding teacher and gave the musician a powerful start for the subsequent career. After her lessons, classes with Professor Lev Evgrafov passed easily and at ease. Now the musician himself is preparing to become a professor at the Conservatory, he is studying at the graduate school of the Moscow Conservatory. This helps him to develop in creativity and take lessons from the masters of the old scene.

Passion for aviation

In many interviews, the musician talks about his second passion - he likes aviation and he is happy that very much in his life is associated with flying. He is familiar with many people who work in aviation, which helps him to learn more about his second passion. About airplanes and flights musician can talk for hours. With this he has many stories connected.

One of the partners of the festival is the airline "Alrosa". Gleb Stepanov says that it is on the flights of this company that he is most often able to carry the instrument for free. Since the musician has to fly a lot, he has perfectly studied the arrangement of different aircraft models. He says that on some flights (most often on "Boeing" in economy class) he has to buy a second ticket for the cello.

Rare tools

If you look more closely at the cello, today the musician plays a rare, but not the most expensive instrument. Two musicians have vouched to rent this particular instrument was able Gleb Stepanov. He managed to take this cello from the collections of the State Collection. Part of the trust in the musician was due to his postgraduate studies, many performers receive rare instruments in this way.

All those 6 years that Gleb plays the cello of the work of Marco Novello (Italy), he has to put a lot of effort and resources to maintain it in working order. A string set costs about ten thousand rubles. For the year of renting a cello he needs to pay 50 thousand rubles. Nevertheless, Gleb Stepanov continues to give free concerts where necessary. Not so long ago he visited Donetsk and Lugansk, and also became the organizer and artistic director of the largest festival.

Crimean festival

The idea of creating this event arose by itself. During performances on the peninsula, the cellist noted that the level of musical culture on it is too low. Meanwhile, cultural workers really wanted to hold a music festival in the Crimea and even helped to compose his program. In the first year, the most diverse music sounded from the stage: from Bach to modern compositions. The program consisted of chamber, symphonic and instrumental works.

In addition, in recent years, the music festival includes creative meetings and master classes from legendary performers. The stars of the world stage and professors from the capital's music academies willingly perform at it. They also gave master classes. All the concerts were held on a charitable basis, fans of classical music could listen to the performances completely free. All expenses for the organization were covered by sponsors and local officials from the Ministry of Culture.

Concert activity

A well-known cellist gives concerts not only in the Crimea. He often visits different cities of Russia. In many cases, he plays for free, although now he does not receive a scholarship from the Rostropovich Foundation. He often plays only instrumental concerts, and on major stages, if there is support from the organizer, Gleb performs works for cello and orchestra. Professors often scold the performer for free concerts and lessons, but while earning a musician with his talent has not learned.

Happened in his career and very surprising cases. Several times the representatives of the philharmonic society refused to host the capital's celebrities, even with free concerts. For example, this situation happened in Syktyvkar, where he wanted to fly together with performers from Venezuela and South Korea. It turned out that the Republican Philharmonic Society does not hold more than one violin concert every year.
