Typical installation of Windows XP

When you purchase a laptop, you get the already installed Windows Vista or Windows 7 operating system with it. Of course, this system is all good - a nice interface, many interesting applications, games, but many users need a more suitable version of the operating system, so you will need to install Windows XP - a system that is best suited for this purpose. In order not to demolish an existing operating system, the second one can be installed in parallel.

Consider a simple installation of the operating system. If this operation is performed first, you do not need to activate it until you make sure that all stationary equipment is working properly. That is, full compatibility of devices is observed. If something works wrong, or with distortions, then you will need to reactivate again. For devices such as a printer or scanner, this does not apply.

In order not to sit in front of the computer for an hour or more while the installation of Windows XP is in progress, you can create an answer file. All the questions that will arise during the installation process will be received by the system from this file, and without your participation. You can create this file using Setupmgr. We are looking for the file support \ tools \ deploy.cab on the boot disk, then we extract setupmgr.exe from it. This utility is a normal configuration wizard. There are enough programs in Windows. Having answered all the questions posed, the same as when installing the system, you can no longer observe the installation process. It will pass from beginning to end without your participation. Answers to the questions will take 5-10 minutes.

If you want to monitor the process, then we will install Windows ourselves. First of all, turn on the computer, insert the boot disk into the CD-ROM and press F2. This is necessary in order to enter the BIOS and make the necessary settings. Typically, a new computer is accompanied by a Windows installation guide, which describes the installation process.

Put a tick in the box next to the "download from CD-ROM" option. This is necessary so that when you turn on the computer, immediately open the boot disk. The contents of the disc appeared on the screen. Push the button to install Windows XP. The system starts to collect information, then copies the files from the boot disk to the hard drive. As soon as the first reboot has gone, we press F2, go back into the BIOS and return the checkmark to the location. Again, reboot the system. Now you will start installing the operating system from your hard drive.

When installing Windows, you should carefully read the text that appears before you, rather than press the buttons. When the system asks which partition to install Windows, specify drive C. Usually this partition is used by default. Leave the file system the same or format the disc, it's up to you. If you plan to install Windows XP from scratch, then click the "Format" button. In this case, all information on disk C will be deleted. If you want to leave the old file system, then click the corresponding button. That is, it turns out that the new OS comes from above the old one, but fixes the corrupted ones, or adds deleted files. And the information will remain intact. Often, an error occurs when you install Windows, when you overlay a new file system on the old system. On the screen pop up windows indicating that it is impossible to install this or that file. In this case, the system must be formatted, otherwise after its installation many programs will work incorrectly, and even they will not start at all.

We reboot the computer and watch how Windows is installed. In the course of installation, you must fill in the necessary requisites. Within an hour or a little more, the operating system will be installed. Next, install the drivers that are on the additional drive. Their installation will not be difficult. After each installed driver, reboot the system to activate.
