How to disable automatic updating in Windows

Developers from Microsoft in their Windows operating systems have long been using the auto-update mechanism. But, as is often the case, a good intention in terms of expediency was ambiguous.

Some users have an automatic update of programs, and others do not care whether this function is available or not. Well, someone is fighting this opportunity in all available ways.

How can I not remember the proverb that you will never please everyone! Microsoft introduced the update after the market evaluation, which took into account not the individual wishes of computer users, but some average indicators. In principle, such an approach is fully justified, but it can not be considered 100% true. At least because in the search line of search engines with an enviable periodicity a request is entered: "How to disable automatic updating?". This suggests that this program mechanism is not of interest to everyone. Before you begin the story of how to disable the automatic update, let's remember what it is and what is needed.

As you know, there is no limit to perfection, especially when it comes to computer programs. Despite the fact that at the time of the official launch on the world market, the operating system undergoes a number of tests, later it reveals certain flaws. For example, it may be a gap in the files of system libraries, because of which the security level is reduced. Yes, and performance may be insufficient, because the non-optimal use of computing resources. Deficiencies can be very diverse. It is important to understand that they do exist. For their elimination there are two ways: auto-update and installation of a package of updated files. In the second case, the user must independently find, download and install updates on the system. By the way, these are not dozens of programs, each of which must be found and downloaded! Sometimes the craftsmen "pack" everything in one file with the auto installation module. But the first case implies the background download of the necessary files from the Internet. Due to this, the system is always in the current state, because it uses the newest versions of the files, in which the found errors are eliminated. To get to the settings screen, you need to click "Start - Control Panel - Update Center - Settings". Here everything is intuitively clear: you can configure the mode or even disable automatic updating. Usually, difficulties do not arise. The background download is very interesting only in two cases: a licensed version of the operating system is used, and the user has constant high-speed access to the global network. Otherwise, it is recommended that you understand how to disable automatic updates.

Often, users complain about the slow speed of the wireless Internet. It turns out that the "update" is the "culprit" in this, uploading files without human participation and occupying the communication channel.

An important point that anyone who wants to understand how to disable the automatic update should know: even when turning off in the settings, the service request to the network still occurs.

You can not do anything with proper means. To completely refuse the update, you need to do the following:

- Click on the "Computer" icon with the right mouse button and select "Control";

- select "Services" in the "Services and Applications" section;

- At the end of the list, find the "Update Center";

- Double-click and switch the startup type to the "Disabled" position, do not forget to press "Apply" (after that you can restart the computer)

This method is guaranteed to disable the automatic update mechanism.
