Treatment of polyarthritis

Polyarthritis is a chronic disease in which several joints are inflamed simultaneously or sequentially. In the tissues of the joints there are many nerve endings and blood vessels. In case of polyarthritis, the synovial membrane around the joint becomes inflamed. This causes pain, some swelling, a feeling of stiffness in the joints, a change in their size and shape. In the initial stage, discomfort is felt only when moving, and eventually becomes permanent. When hypothermia, as a rule, the pain intensifies.

Before starting treatment for polyarthritis, you should study the symptoms and identify the causes of the disease. Depending on what the cause of the development of the disease, distinguish its types:

Rheumatoid polyarthritis is characterized by a chronic lesion of several joints. It can spread very quickly to other organs, so it is necessary to get rid of it in the initial stage.

The cause of crystalline (or exchange) polyarthritis is the accumulation of urate salts in the joints. Crystals of salt irritate them, causing, thereby, inflammation. Gout is just an example of crystalline polyarthritis.

Infectious form of the disease occurs, as the name implies, after the patient has suffered a serious infection: tuberculosis, brucellosis, gonorrhea. The treatment of polyarthritis, in this case, is the treatment of the underlying disease.

Reactive polyarthritis develops as a reaction of the joints to the presence of infection in the body, most often in the genitourinary system or the lungs. He is responsible for the development of polyneuritis, colitis, conjunctivitis.

Psoriatic disease affects mainly people under the age of 40 years. It develops six to eight months after the psoriatic lesion of the skin and affects, usually, the joints of the feet.

As a result of all kinds of injuries, such as dislocations, fractures, joint cracks, bruises, posttraumatic polyarthritis may occur. Symptoms are manifested in the form of crunching joints during movement, dull pain in muscles, awkward movements.

Treatment of polyarthritis ( as, indeed, any disease) it is important to start in the early stages to prevent its transition to a chronic form. When the stage is started, the functions of the joints are disrupted, and this often leads to disability.

Overweight, as is known, increases the burden on the musculoskeletal system. A prerequisite for treating the disease is weight reduction to reduce this burden. A good effect that contributes to reducing pain, inflammation and swelling in the joints is provided by physiotherapeutic treatment, conducted with the help of diathermy, ultrasound, massage, paraffin applications, therapeutic gymnastics. Treatment of polyarthritis includes hospitalization of the patient during an exacerbation, and also, sanatorium maintenance.

Folk remedies for this disease suggest the use of pine baths (twigs and cones), lingonberry infusion, grated radish, eucalyptus oil. A mixture consisting of equal parts of vodka, turpentine and vegetable oil works well: it rubs the diseased joints and wraps them for the night.

An important role is played by a diet with polyarthritis. From the diet in the disease should exclude rich broth: meat, fish, mushroom. Animal proteins should be consumed in the form of lean boiled meat, boiled chicken. For patients with polyarthritis, fish and fish oil in capsules are useful.

Exclude from the diet refined food, sausages, canned goods, semi-finished products and delicacies with bone meal, which can aggravate the course of the disease. Do not use fruits such as lemons, grapefruits, oranges, bananas, pineapples. And from drinks - lemonades, coca-cola, strong coffee, tea. It is important that the food is homemade, simple and, of course, fresh. To drink it is much more useful compotes from fresh (it is possible and dried) fruit and berries, an extract of a dogrose, karkade, morse, kissels and grassy teas.
