Top dressing of tomatoes in the greenhouse: recommendations

How are tomatoes fed in the greenhouse? In order to receive earlier crops of tomatoes, many farmers grow them in greenhouses. With this method it is important to pay as much attention to the fertilizing. After all, the areas in this case are limited, therefore, the soil is depleted very quickly. How correctly to carry out top dressing of tomatoes in a greenhouse?

Many gardeners are advised to fertilize the plants already when carrying seedlings in the ground. At the same time, the hole is dug out and the manure, compost, or humus mixed with ash is introduced into it. Thus, the tomatoes already at the first stage of development will receive all the necessary mineral substances, as well as macro- and microelements. The first top dressing of tomatoes in the greenhouse (or rather, the timing of its holding) causes some disagreement among the summer residents. Many believe that fertilizer should be placed no earlier than a couple of weeks after planting the seedlings. Each dacha owner needs to solve this task for himself, based primarily on how well the land was fertilized in previous years. If the funds are rarely paid, it is still necessary to feed the seedlings already at the landing. In this case, it will take better and go faster to growth.

It is necessary to carry out top dressing of tomatoes in the greenhouse also during the budding and ripening of fruits. Tomatoes react very sensitively to the absence of phosphorus and calcium. In the first case, violet-red spots appear on the leaf blades from below. With a lack of calcium, it is possible to develop vertex rot. For its prevention, plants should be sprayed during flowering with a solution of calcium nitrate (1 tablespoon per 10 liters). At the beginning of budding, it is also necessary to carry out root fertilizing by applying the following composition: half a liter of mullein and bird droppings are mixed with 1 tablespoon. Potassium sulfate and dilute all this in a bucket of water. A very good decision will also be the holding of such an event as the fertilization of tomatoes with ashes at a time when ovaries will start to form on them. This will make up for the lack of necessary trace elements. For each plant, it is necessary to use about a liter of such a solution: 2 liters of diluted ash in water, 10 g of boric acid per bucket of water (hot). Before use, the mixture, of course, needs to be cooled to room temperature.

During the mass ripening of fruits, it is necessary to carry out the last top dressing of tomatoes in the greenhouse. In this case, 1 tbsp. Humate sodium (in liquid form) and 2 tablespoons. Superphosphate, diluted in 10 liters of water. The beds are also watered at a rate of 1 liter per plant. The use of this tool will make the fruits much more tasty. In addition, this will greatly accelerate maturation.

Especially strictly cite Of course, it is not necessary to adhere to the above instructions. Every gardener knows the characteristics of the soil in his own greenhouse and can independently determine which fertilizers will be useful. It is necessary to observe in this case the state of the plants themselves. We have already mentioned the signs of phosphorus and calcium starvation above. Due to the lack of potassium, tomato leaves begin to dry out at the tips. If the soil lacks nitrogen, the plants will turn yellowish and develop poorly.

In all these cases, it is necessary to carry out top dressing of tomatoes in the greenhouse with the appropriate types of mineral fertilizers. However, it is best not to wait for such unpleasant changes and fertilize the plants in time with mineral composition or infusion of ashes. The latter contains just a huge amount of the most diverse substances necessary for the proper development of tomatoes. Among other things, the ash neutralizes acidic soil. In this case, coal is considered to be particularly useful.
